outstanding Lynus! sounds like I missed a good one, but at least Ive seen them before so I dont feel *too* bad. The Maiden show is Thursday May 22nd, not sure who is opening for them on this leg. Your presence would be most welcome, I'll be with a group of old metalheads so Im sure you would fit right in.
that reminds me I havent picked up the new album yet :ashamed: Have you heard it and if so, what do ya think? None of the new ones have been better than the classic stuff imo, but they have been worthy purchases nonetheless. Lynus, You may not be physically old, but from everything Ive read from you re: attitude and musical taste, you fit right in..trust me.
A Matter of Life and Death trumps the previous 2 CDs. But, if you're not fond of long, epic songs this may not be for you. I love the epics but this album goes overboard and i think it takes away from it's greatness. i think 8 of the 10 songs are over the 7 minute mark. the opening song is pretty weak though. doesn't really mesh with the rest of the CD. Standouts are Brighter than a Thousand Suns and For the Greater Good of God. lots of war songs, of course. but for me, they've set the bar too high with Paschendale.
no thats actually fine with me. Im a huge fan of the progressive metal\rock bands that go off on 10-12 minute musical journeys. Fates Warning, Dream Theater and Spocks Beard would be three examples. Im glad to hear that about MoLaD...I liked the last two well enough, but as far as favorites in my Maiden rankings they are barely above the Blaze era albums. I find it difficult to find Maiden at local record stores, so I couldnt find it last time I looked, Ill have to download it till I can get a physical copy. I hate going into a show not knowing the new material.
well, then i have great news for you. this is teh Somewhere Back in Time Tour. a bit of a retread of the Live After Death set.
Yes, I may have to meet you all as well. I'd hate to miss this Maiden "throwback" tour since I was like 6 years old in '86. My concert cash is slim though, too many good shows. Ministry tonight with MESHUGGAH!
Oh holy crap. I might have to make it out to this. Saw 'em a couple of times in Jr High & HS, haven't listened to them since, really.
Wow, I feel like a poser... Honestly, I havent paid attention to Maiden since Virtual XI in '98...that was so displeasing that I just clung to my old Maiden albums...
I was about to question ya'll Megadeth taste after just listening to the first two songs on The System Has Failed, then I played Kick The Chair. Now we're talkin! I hope the rest of the album picks up from here on.
Word. What's your email so we can coordinate? I'm going to be really busy the next couple of months, so I may not be able to make it, but I'm sure as hell going to try. You, macalu, Buck, and whomever else shoot me an email: Lynus302 at yahoo dot com
haha thats awesome I did a Maiden themed chop a year or two back here's me so yall can tell me from the many old bearded guys that are sure to be there UP THE IRONS CF Style
Freaking awesome! Someone should do the United Abominations cover with Salt Lake city in the background... I guess after 9/11 stuff like that isnt very funny anymore... OK, now I feel bad
