Interesting that Doc's info concerns what Francis has (finally) been told. This was the most idiotic part of Weisbrod's strip tease. He wasn't just stringing out us and McGrady. He was stringing out Francis, the guy he was supposedly courting to be the Magic's new star. I wonder how Steve felt about having the door shut behind him in Houston and then having to wait a week for Weisbrod to open the door in Orlando. Not exactly the kind of treatment that will inspire free agents to line up in Orlando. P.S. At 6'4", it sounds like Mobley could play the 3 in that Orlando lineup. They can bring back Muggsy Bogues to be the 6th man.
As a basketball fan, I'll be very happy to see the experiment with Steve as a 2 guard. As a Rockets fan, I'll be very content that it's happening in Orlando.
BBS fever...catch it! I was just doing my part to stir up some sh*t. But I wonder why Doc has decided to be so literal? I don't know if I'm glad he's laying it out straight or if I miss the fun of the varied interpretaions of his riddles. I guess we'd blow up the server on this one if he teased us with some enigmatc prose.
According to magic fans Reece Gaines is a surefire bust. The only reason why he was drafted was because Doc Rivers had an infuatuation with tall guards or something. They also said that he never showed them any glimpses of his potntial or anything. Just about all of them described him as a Deer Caught in the headlights.
I don't think ol' hockey head played act 2 of this comedy so badly from his side. When the rumor hit and Stevie dissed Orlando in public, he had to generate some positive PR out of Steve before he confirmed the deal. I don't know whether Steve really went to Orlando and saw some promise or not but it sure plays better in Orlando to say he did.
Definitely more than the MLE. Probably not the max. But probably a lil more than the $7 mil per season that he got during his last contract.
The warrior to warrior= Dampier was a joke. Why would he come to a team with 2 high dollar PF's and an all-star center?
I've come to the conclusion that most Magic fans are a bit off. I doubt a player can so much potential averaging 9.6 MPG. I think I'll take a shot at Reece, and take Rick Pitino and Doc Rivers assessment over Magic Fans. Afterall, they already have Dwight Howard in the Hall of Fame.
Playing devils advocate, because Mo Taylor should be gone and Clarence Weatherspoon will be filling his usual spot as 3rd string PF.
Mon mourning phone call: (ring) (ring) (ring) CD: Hello Wisebrod: Hey CD its Wiseass CD: hey wiseass how you doing? Wisebrod:Fine Fine, you ready to finish this deal or what? CD:Yeah that would be great Wisebrod:Good, so its offical, Ill go ahead and contact the media and then well... hold on CD someones on the other line 5 min later Wisebrod:CD you still there? CD:Yeah Wisebrod:that was the suns, it seems like they are uping their deal bye CD CD:Wiseass YOU SON OF A (click) hahah sorry could not help it.
I know Doc's reliable, but I still won't believe it until I see it due to the fact Weisass is such an idiot. The news does make me feel better about the trade, though.
BOOOOYAAAHHHH!!! Reece Gaines can ball, at least he could at Louisville. He rarely got to play at Orlando, how many times has a player been labeled a bust after one year at limited minutes in the League?
The funny thing is, we were all relying on ESPN and the Chronicle to give us the scoop, but it's probably going to be Doc's news that is the real deal.
