I didn't write it down but it sounded to me like...

" nothing is done, we are going to take our time and we are looking at options"

    Sickening!!!!

And Orlando isn't doing this? If this deal falls through that is EXACTLY what Orlando woudl be doing.

So who's on first? Ok couldn't resist had to use that line again. BTW if this deal doesn't go down.... can we file tampering chargers against the Weisass? I haven't heard anything leak out of Rocket camp about how they have given the Magic permission to meet face to face with a player under contract. Only thing I can remember being said is that Les thinks we will get the deal done.

I like the idea of Les calling Orlando's owner, but it could be that Les And CD know something we don't.

But where is T-Mac in all this? If he really wants to come to the Rocket's he can force Weisbrod's hand. Weisbrod can listen to offers until he's blue in the face but if McGrady refuses to sign an extension no one's going to give Orlando anything to rent him for a season.

T-Mac's silence is unnerving me more than anything Weisbrod's saying. It's my hope that T-Mac's spoken with Les or CD and reassured them. If T-Mac really were so inclined he could put Weibrod's ass in a sling and publically come out and say "Fine don't trade me. I'll veto any deal you try to make and walk at the end of next year."

Then watch Orlando fans howl as they rip their GM to shreds. But I'm worried now, does T-mac really still want to come to Houston?

If this trade doesn't happen we are so screwed where Francis is concerned

I wonder if T-Mac is taking some time to assess the new draft picks and is (gulp) reevaluating his position...

The idiot basically said that he was talking to "numerous teams" and that nothing was done. He didn't even mention the Rockets or Francis specifically and said that he was in no rush.

Guys, aren't we all to jumpy at all this. Here's my take on what's going on:

    1. The deal was done and then Steve threw the bomb saying that he won't play for ORL, hockey guy got scared and pulled back, OK we all know that.

    2. Steve's agents and business people start talking him into sanity saying that he can't do that, that he'll end up voiding his deal, that he's not Micheal f**ing Jordan, that all the owners will be so pissed that they will band together and nobody would sign him just to make a point for the future etc. etc. Steve starts to warm up to the idea and slowly begining to realize that they don't give out $90mil contracts in the Greek league.

    3. Hockey guy wants to make sure that Steve's OK, so he wants to meet him. Problem is how you meet a guy under contract with another team? Well, you have to say, wink-wink "We didn't ask him to come, he wanted to come", wink-wink. Things are where they were, it's up to Steve and Worst to meet, shake hands and then the deal is announced.

    Peace!

I think the deal is going to be done tomorrow, since Steve is now going to Orlando Tuesday to meet with Orlando's GM. I wish Gooden was in the deal instead of Howard.

You know, as much as I'd like to take ole Johnny boy to the shed I think Kayman is right. Weisbrod is saving face with all of this mess, and he's doing it with the people that he's most concerned about, the Orlando Magic fans. While most Magic fans may be as easy to convince as a redneck from the swamps, he's just trying to cover all of his Harvard negotiation tactics.

There is no way that Steve goes to Orlando to take a tour of the freaking city if they don't intend to seal the deal. I seriously think this guy is on a power trip. He loves and craves the attention because if he didn't he could have simply said "no comment" to all media inquiries as far as the deal is concerned. I think he has the "macho man" complex where he wants everyone to think he's in control. I also would not doubt it if Steve and him have talked "off the record" and they've decided to drag this out longer. Who knows, Steve may have told Weisass to let the Rockets Management hanging for a bit, and with his macho attitude Weisbrod gladly complied.

As far as T-Mac's silence, I wouldn't be concerned, that's just the way he is. I'm sure he's been in contact with Rocket's management, but told his agent to keep things under wraps. He's probably sitting back and laughing at Weisbrod since he knows he has no control. And he won't change his mind because I could care less who they drafted, they are still rebuilding & that's not what he wants. And if Weisbrod was in "serious talks" with other teams I'm confident that there would be articles floating around, but alas none have come up.

Weisbrod just said that they didn't invite Steve to keep things legal, because of course Weisbrod would have no control of Steve coming to visit if he wanted. Again, he's trying to live up to his Harvard MBA, but as we all know he's just full of BS. ;)

I agree with your scenario excpet for one thing. Why get the fans hopes up that other deals may be cooking? If I'm a Majic fan, I'm probably hoping that another deal is in the works. I personally believe Steve and Cat are real values (particularly Cat). But does it really seem like a fair trade -- not at all. I'm sure the fans envisioned a real franchise creating trade (sorry for the pun) with them only losing one or two players and picking up a quality player or two in return and about 3 No. 1 draft picks for the future.

If Weisbrod doesn't get it done with Steve tomorrow then we hit July 1st the TMac situation goes back to open market.

The only way we get TMac is if he plays hard ball and will only sign with Houston.

I think this is unlikely because he wants out pretty badly (now I know why- Weisbrod)
I expect he could be persuaded to accept a deal with Indiana, Phoenix and possibly Dallas. Maybe some other teams could come in somehow I am not sure. But those teams have something to offer that might work for Weisbrod and TMac.

Houston may be his first choice but I have to think that Weisbrod is not totally with the Houston offer. If he is scared of Steve, then he hasn't talked enough to Steve. So maybe it does happen tomorrow.

Anyway if it doesn't happen tomorrow or Wed. then I think Houston is somewhere low on Weisbrod's list. He's looking for something better.

I hope we make this deal.
It would be great if TMac pushed Weisbrod in a corner.
But after Wed. I think it is dead.

He's plays the game to do just that, get their hopes up that he's doing the best damn job at finding the best damn trade to make that 21-61 team better. And if in the end he ends up with an All-Star point guard and two other role players that fill holes in their line-up then he won't be chastised for working with the "hand he was dealt". He knows exactly what he's doing and most Magic fans understand that they would never get equal value for T-Mac. Getting an All-Star and two very good role players is more than fair trade value, and better than future #1's in my opinion.
