Perhaps it is necessary for the deal to be as close as possible to July 1, but not to cross that date. Since newly acquired players can be dealt within 2 days, maybe Rockets will turn around and immediately deal Howard elsewhere. But now it will already be after July 1 and possibly there is a sign-and-trade already in place. That would explain the timing of TMac trade.
Evidently weisbrod didnt get enough attention as a kid. I think he and stevie are getting a kick out of making t-mac and the rockets sweat it out.

It wasn't so much about your post as it was about frustration with the reminder that some of us are still on many people's "skim over until they get to a poster they recognize" list. Hey, I do it too -- I skip over 50% of the posts on this board. But you always think that happens to someone else. Sorry...been out of pocket. I talked to my boy today and he said that Steve said it was going down today. Of course, that was at 10:30 this morning. What can I say? They screwed me. Francis said the deal was DONE Saturday. He was going to Orlando today to finalize. He said that they WOULD anounce it today (Monday) - however, they have not - I guess I'm wrong but maybe they're screwing Steve more than we thought. Steve said TODAY it would be done TODAY! I don't know what else to tell ya...sorry! That's all I know right now...
IIRC, isn't it tampering to have a player under contract with another team to come over and discuss going over to your team in a trade? What the hell does Weisbrod think he is doing? He certainly doesn't have me or any fans on this board fooled. I know he wants to make himself look like a hero and a "hard-nosed" negotiator, but he is making himself look like an ass among his fellow peers. I will definitely be laughing when the next time he makes a trade (if ever does) it comes back to bite him in the ass.

I saw this coming? Doc you have been around a long time, and have always been a very insightful guy - but no way anybody in the Rockets organization knows whats going on. This Orlando GM is just playing head games and there is no telling what happens. I do predict that if this does not go down by Wed (the deadline) then this thing is going to be dragged out for weeks....

Let's say this doesn't happen. Does Weisass ever get a deal done again? He is making a bad name for himself. This ain't hockey. There will be an NBA tomorrow, unlike the NHL. If he keeps treating respected NBA club management like this, he might not be areound too long. I know he thinks he has to take a tough guy stand, being his first major deal. This, however, is not the best way of handling it.
