With Nelson's press conference this morning and Stevie flying today to Orlando then White in the Eyes timing cannot be til latter afternoon? and Agreement today Announcement tomorrow. Or so the timeline portends?
I agree -- I think this was key and was what took away Weisbrod's ability to truly deal with other teams. I can't wait for the press conference to hear T-Mac say the obligatory things about how great Yao is, how great the Rockets franchise is, etc. This will be on time when I'll be glad to be spun. It will be interesting to hear T-Mac say why he was so dead set on the Rox, tho.
It's my understanding that if we trade SF before July 1, he's still on the base year contract, right? So if we do indeed get this done before July 1 (or July 15 for that matter) doesn't that mean we're gonna hafta include lots of extra cap space in the trade, which will equate to more cap room for the Rockets when the deal is done?
I think T-Mac realizes that his games then will be broadcast in all of China. He will then be able to sign up some lucrative endorsement deals to make up the money he foregone by not signing with the Magic. He is a smart dude, my friend!
RocketRacoon, I didn't get any sense of cryptic speak from any of Doc's posts. I know he's done that in the past. I think he was too excited! My understanding of the quote you are referring to, was that he was talking about the future, winning championships with what we've got, no news to report on trades, win another one, etc. I'm sure Doc will give us more cryptic posts in the future, regarding other news, but I think his posts last night were on the face exactly what they appeared to be ... excitement to report that the deal was finally done, and dreaming about the future with Ming/TMac as the backbone of our franchise for years to come.
Maybe because they had the "sack" to make Steve learn the PG position like he should have been doing in the first place instead of caving in to him and being forced to run with an undersized 2-guard.
Weren't the Magic supposed to have a press conference at 10:30et for Jameer Nelson? Does anyone know if that happened?
It sad that the Magic will use Francis as a 2 guards, while we can use him as 2 guards and it can be same effectiveness as Mcgrady. Good luck Francis. Great info Doc!!!
