i bet dorsey could have pulled a few rebounds and maybe even block a shot. too bad he's not as proven as the media made him out to be a few months back. :( . im not too worried though.

I think he does have a good insight on Yao and it shows.

No doubt. While it's not exactly a new concept to front Yao and make other shooters pay, thibodeau still owns Yao with it every time.

You're right. I couldn't remember Tom the defensive maniac.

He knows Yao in heart...good find.

OH yeah - Thibodeau completely owns the Rockets. I mean we got flat out whooped by the Celtics yesterday - the defended us SO HARD that we got SMASHED by 2 buckets.
The defending NBA champs playing without anybody injured managed to completely annihilate us (missing our premiere wing defender). We should just all sit down and cry because clearly the Celtics proved that we're absolutely no chance of competing with the good teams - just front Yao and the Rockets are out of the game.

    _______

Looking forward to the next matchup when TMac is closer to 100%, and Battier is in uniform.

No doubt TT does a good job, but our offense scored plenty of points yesterday, is was our defense (as noted) that let us down.

Exactly what I was thinking. I mean their fronting Yao basically sets us up a pick on the inside. Exploit that.

Also, lol at big baby's cross eyes.

Mainly we referred to TT owning Yao more than anything. But it's obvious their defense has given us trouble.

There is a fine line between winning and losing. Sure we only lost by 4 and made a lot of correctable mistakes, but lets not act like the Celtics gave us their best game either. They just lost to the Pacers by 16 in their previous game.

Bottom line is we got to play the Boston Celtics with Yao, T-Mac, and Artest all playing AT HOME and we lost. That is disappointing.

You can overcome the fronting by having some set a back screen on Yao's man, usually the pG-Rafer isn't doing anything anyway (ala John Stockon) and have Yao role opposite side and reverse the ball.

You can also have Yao come from the post and set a screen and run pick and roll. The defender covering Yao can't cover the man with ball because he is topside.

You can have Yao start opposite of the block and set a back screen with the PG to free him up role to the block wide open.

Basically go get the Jazz book (Malone and Stockton) to see how it is done

thank you. we all know thibodeaux is a great defensive coach and the celtics have one of the best defenses ever, but we scored 99 points and did it with yao having one of his worst games ever and artest shooting 3-16. and while they fronted yao some, he had plenty of catches with perkins behind him and missed damn near everything. he airballed a hookshot, got blocked after getting a layup, blew an open dunk, and missed about a 2 foot hook shot. and that was in about 5 minutes. their D wasn't at all what cost us the game last night. for some reason, it was ours.

Oh right - I get it. So because the best team in basketball lost their last game by 16, therefore it means they will automatically play badly in their NEXT game.

It so completely follows that they would perform terribly in their next game.

You win the NBA championship by putting aside a disappointing performance and comitting to the next game. And, I'd suggest, their loss to Indiana was even more motivation to play an intense game next up.

Bottom line - they had all their players fit and healthy, we were missing our best wing defender and TMac wasn't 100% (and Yao arguably not at peak fitness either). And we just lost a game that we could well have won.
The Cs played a great game - go watch it again, there isn't too much that they could have done better - their execution was solid and they made their wide open shots.

The difference between us it that YOU'RE freaking out because we lost one (very close) game of basketball (to the best team in the league) whereas I am excited

Wait a minute....what? They didn't give us their best game because....they lost to the Pacers? o...k..

Yao had his worst game in forever and Artest shot poorly. Give each of them one more basket and we win that game. On a regular night they'll each hit 2 or 3 more shots, making up for the fact that KG also didn't play well.

i think what everybody fails to realize is that when teams of this caliber play, its usually a lucky bounce here or there that determines the game, boston got those bounces the other night, no big deal

we dont have shane, hes a bigger piece than people realize :D
