The Chron is reporting it as likely. Big disappointment if true. You get names like Gillispie and Tim Floyd, even Avery Johnson tossed around. And then you end up hiring a guy like Dickey. Ugh. Big let down. I would've been happy with Bob Marlin too.

I thought it was a joke but it isn't. The new AD is a joke. I never even heard of this guy until last week.

And the James Dickey era begins. This should really pack the stands. Can you feel the excitement?

Maybe Penders wasn't that bad after all

They basically replaced Penders with Penders.

Wow. Way to f*** it up, UH. You had some good momentum in the program and from the fan base. You couldn't have done worse unless you hired Dave Bliss...

Wait...he wasn't on the list, was he?

    James Dickey? Seriously?

Unbelievably bad hire. He is not inspiring, he has ZERO recruiting roots, he has failed in the past and has had his own off the court issues..... this hire is TERRIBLE

Seriously.... if you didn't want to go Billy, at the minimum get an assistant with some upside... like Walker.

%$$#$ I would rather have Alvin Brooks back....

Not gonna get me into the Hoff for that key match-up against Sacramento State....or Virginia Commonwealth....

I guess if this guy is at least willing to try to recruit Houston area freshmen its a step up..but maybe not.

Seemed like a solid coach at Tech before those sanctions hit.

I'd rather the program succeed because of the quality of product on the court, and not because the name of the guy in charge. And there's no way to know how good, or bad, they'll be until they actually start playing.

fwiw, Kendrick Washington, Desmond Wade, and Adam Brown were all hooping at the UH rec this evening. I was kinda shocked to see them there. Guess that means that the players are basically doing whatever they want right now.

Jesus. If that's true, Rhodes sounds amazingly incompetent. Would've been nice if he hadn't assumed he had the power to pull the trigger on BCG and had gotten Marlin while he was available.
