Captain Phillips is a pretty bad title.

Should have named it Marathon Men.

I'm tired of this media portrayal of Somali pirates as evil people. My buddy in East Kenya invested 10K with some pirate investment group and he was given a return of his investment of almost 900K in less than two years. Sounds like saints to me.

He was a little busy producing the three best miniseries of all time and one of the few quality scripted series of the last decade. As long as he doesn't try to hook up with Debra Winger midway through to Randy Newman songs I'll be fine.

That they didn't get 'Pirates' into the title is an epic mistake.

They really should arm those ships....have security guys trained to fight back...they could have remote cannons that are fired by folks 2 thousand miles away....and on topic - movie looks awesome.

Nothing special. Should be an entertaining watch, but doesn't look like it'll be anything crazy.

This subject reminds me of a novel from 2-3 years ago by one of the best writing cats around, Elmore Leonard. Djibouti is about African/Arab pirates and their piractical goings on, and the main characters are terrific. A beautiful blonde award-winning documentary filmmaker, her 6'6" 70 year old horny (and very cool) Black assistant from New Orleans, and a host of pirates, terrorists, spies, and other interesting folks doing their thing in Djibouti and Somalia. As usual, Leonard's novel is well grounded in reality. Well worth reading.

They do now. Somali piracy is at an all time low right now.
