Oh if I had a dime for every time you said that!

T_J calling someone else 'poorly informed'? Oh the irony!

Isn't this a word for word quote from Delay's statement? Tim Russert came on and pointed out that infact Delay had been officially admonished by congress so some of the charges were hardly "basesless". That means in his 'spin' on the charges he pretty much lied straight faced into the camera. He just used his power to buffer the consequences the admonishment by changiing the rules of Congress.

When a man can use corruption to attain a level of power where he can control the results of his own indictment, he has ceased to function as a servent of the people and headed into tyrany and demogogery. It is a proper use of the criminal system to check this power.

I think most Americans do not want any one man to hold the power to direct the nation without the need of compromise.

I know it's a bitter pill to swallow, but it looks like Delay's going to have a new nickname and the Hummer's cellmates are going to be the beneficiary of that post-Clinton surge in oral sex.

Since when was Jim Mattox a conservative democrat? Gimme a break. You have concluded, without knowing what the grand jury has seen, that this must be nothing more than partisan politics. Sad. Have you ever been on any kind of jury? If DeLay is convicted, will you still assume he is an innocent victim? Just curious.

DeLay Must Appear in Austin on Charge

By SUZANNE GAMBOA, Associated Press Writer
Wed Sep 28, 7:52 PM ET

The next step in the criminal proceedings against Republican leader Tom DeLay is a trip to Austin to be fingerprinted and photographed.

DeLay was indicted Wednesday on one count of criminal conspiracy for his alleged role in a campaign finance scheme that helped give Republicans power in the Texas House and in Congress.

DeLay's attorneys were working out the details of when the 11-term congressman would return to Texas in hopes of saving him from further embarrassment, they said.

"What we're trying to avoid is Ronnie Earle having him taken down in handcuffs, and fingerprinted and photographed. That's uncalled for and I don't think that's going to happen," said Dick DeGuerin, DeLay's attorney.

Earle, the Travis County district attorney, said it is up to the court to decide how DeLay would be arraigned.

It was not immediately clear whether DeLay would have to go through booking after responding to the summons for arraignment, said his attorney Bill White.

A bond amount would be set beforehand so Delay could immediately pay it and avoid a stay in jail. He also could waive going before a magistrate to have his rights and charges read to him, said Roger Wade, Travis County Sheriff's Office spokesman.

DeLay could go to trial in 90 days, which the defense said it favored. "We want a trial right away," DeGuerin said. "We want a trial by the end of the year."

Buck Wood, an attorney who represents Democrats suing some of the corporations that contributed to DeLay's PAC, said although it's difficult to go to trial quickly that may best serve DeLay.

"I can understand why Tom DeLay wants a quick trial, because politically (the indictment) paralyzes him," Wood said.

He doesn't represent Sugarland any more. The redistricting has him in my district in Clear Lake.

If I can talk my stepfather into running against him in the GOP primary, DeLay will have a run for his money.

    lying under oath sucks, too.

    partisanship does, too.

if you break the law...you should receive the consequence. just like the rest of us.

if he broke the law. I heard an interesting quote yesterday about this. The guy said It's not whether a public official is guilty or innocent that matters but instead it is the severity of the charges that sway public opinion.

I have no idea on this topic, I need to read up and I will. From What I have heard DeLay is a bulldog and this partisan prosecutor has a vendetta against the far right. If he did all the stuff they said then I hope he goes down.

For the record the "partisan" prosecutor has prosecuted more Democrats than Republicans.

Yeah but he didn't prosecute the Dems out of principle either. He's a hack that prosecutes anyone he has a personal disagreement with. That being said, if Delay is guilty, lock him up and throw away the key. If not, the damage is done already, anyway. It's the sad part about a 24/7 media much like Richard Jewel in the Olympic Park bombings.

you know its interesting that the republicans are crying politics.

hell yeah its politics. just like the cockroach killer got to redistrict the state to screw over non republicans...well this is our chance to screw him over.

and frankly i dont even care if this is legit or not. as long as it does damage and ruins delay's career i'll be happy.

this aint school board elections. this is running the most powerful country in the world. what do you expect? everyone to play nice? give me a break.

    go get em earle.
