Set aside the straw man, dude. This is about DeLay getting away with what amounts to election tampering, in my humble opinion. That's an entirely different topic.

It's not really your opinion, Deck! The facts spoke. And money speaks louder than facts or crime in America right now.

And that's the sad truth. Money speaks louder today than at any time in modern American political history, thanks to a Supreme Court dominated by judicial extremists.

I'd like to hear thoughts about what can be done to "re-redistrict" Texas, or more precisely, change the process that's lead to the current situation.

Are we just gonna ignore the huge statement that a fetus isn't a baby? That's no more hypocritical than being a "poor hating rich Christian".

The original case in 2005 involved state law so I'm not sure this can become a federal matter. Texas has a ban on corporate contributions to candidates. Delay circumvented this by laundering the money through some friends that made it look like they were the ones donating cash.

The funny thing is with Citizens United, Delay wouldnt even have to do do any of that today. He laundered money to Republican state legislative campaigns because there were limits on corporate spending in elections. (much of the money he laundered came from major companies) Today he'd just have to form a Super PAC and freely spend that money on advertising and other campaign activities.

Federal judges don't have to consider public sentiment, just precedents and case law that we aren't as able or inclined to examine or interpret.

I was once a spermatozoa too doesn't make me feel guilty when I toss one into a Kleenex during an exciting scene from "Where the Boys Aren't 83."

Explain your feelings on Tom Delay. You have avoided one topic already today. I am waiting.

Your continuing to dodge the thread topic only intensifies the laser-light shining on the crime of Tom Delay walking in this situation.

The only neg rep going on is that every time you post, even those who oppose abortion start to wonder if it might have been a good idea in just one specific big cassse.

What does abortion have to do with skirting campaign finance rules? This is the whole republican strategy.
