I like Cruise and I watch a lot of his movies. He does get a lot of unfair criticism. But the criticism he has gotten for shoving his relationship down everyone's throat isn't unfair. No one cares. And people who think he's gay are just going to say this is a pathetic attempt to prove he isn't.
I think he was calm and collected and did a good job of not over-reacting. He was upset as any of you would be too.
If I was sleeping Katie Holmes I would jump on couches no doubt, but I'm not Tom Cruise. Tom Cruise has been with Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, and who knows who else.
See my previous post. Tom Cruise is not an actor. He is a movie star. Big difference, IMHO. The only movie I ever liked that he was in was "The Outsiders". I don't hate him. I just tune him out.
Actually, that would have been pretty sweet if Tom Cruise just busted out with Jack Nicholson and Cuba Gooding, Jr.'s catchphrases from his movies.
I'm with Rocketman. Hate is a wasted emotion on Tom Cruise. He's a bad actor, a closet case and $cientologist, but I'll save my hate for terrorists, torturers and chickenhawks.
I don't care that he called the guy a jerk, I'm just saying I don't care that he got sprayed either and it's not about Katie Holmes. Didn't you guys hear the whole Brooke Shields thing? That was the epitome of classless. If you don't know what I'm talking about, look it up. Oh, and then look into his claims about psychiatry being a Nazi science. He basically said a bunch of BS about Carl Jung that wasn't true. Don't expect his brainwashed ass to cop to it though.
I wholeheartedly agree with you 110%. When I need psychoanalysis and prozac, the first person I call is a Scientologist! That's like calling a barber for brain surgery!
Ok, I looked it up for ya'll. Here's Entertainment Weekly not letting Tom spout off his lies without researching what he said: TOM CRUISE's beliefs in Scientology are based on misinformation, according to US showbiz magazine ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY - after editors checked facts from a recent interview with the movie star. Just weeks after accusing BROOKE SHIELDS of being "misinformed" after she championed anti-depressants for helping her deal with post-partum depression, Cruise made a couple of sweeping statements to Entertainment Weekly reporter BENJAMIN SVETKEY. The writer chose to check Cruise's comments and found out he wasn't accurate. Supporting Scientology claims that psychiatry is "a Nazi science", Cruise stated, "JUNG (CARL JUNG, the father of modern psychiatry) was an editor for the Nazi papers during World War Two," which the magazine's researchers discovered is untrue, according to the New York Center For Jungian Studies. The movie star continued, "Look at the experimentation the Nazis did with electric shock and drugging. Look at the drug methadone. That was originally called Adolophine. It was named after ADOLF HITLER." The magazine also questions Cruise on this point, explaining, "According to the Dictionary Of Drugs And Medications... this is an urban legend." 13/06/2005 21:31 http://www.contactmusic.com/new/xml...ripped up by magazine over scientology claims
Well, I don't think anyone's saying he's not part of a crazy-ass L.A. cult. He is. Doesn't mean he has to smile when he gets water squirted in his face, though. Damn, we're really debating Tom Cruise, aren't we?! It must be Monday.
Oh geez...please don't photoshop that one. LOL Look at the movies Tom Cruise has made. Is he supposed to be some super smart person that has his facts straight? What precedent would that have been set with? He's just an actor. I'm just waiting on the break-up now. It won't last. Him and Katie are so happy now that their going to be so sick of each other later. And, the whole reason their exposing themselves like fools now is to satisfy the papparazi and tabloids so much that even they will get sick of them. If they were to be private about it, then the whole phenomenon would be much worse on them. All they have to do is act like goofy idiots when their in the public eye and everyone will shun them soon enough. We're already sick of it and its only been a few weeks. I want to see Tom Cruise play a scientist. Yea...that's the ticket.
Hating Tom Cruise is stupid; there's no reason to. I don't see how he's a "bad" actor. I like him and like all the movies I've seen him in. He's a good guy in real life. I don't agree with his views, but he appears to be a nice guy. So he got really excited about dating Katie Holmes - so what? Good for him. We'd all be that happy, too, if it were us (although I'd keep it on the inside if I was on TV).
Why do people still think Cruise is a bad actor? I think he's one hell of a actor, and if anything underated. He takes on fairly diverse roles and fairly diverse number of films. He does a damn good job in almost all of them. I think the reason is he came on the scene as a pretty boy and also takes roles in films like MI, MI2, minority report, but he balances that with films like eyes wide shut and jerry mcgwire.
Lipton: "You are a delight, Tom Cruise. When you get to the pearly gates, what will you say?" Cruise: "Your a jerk...jerk. I work hard to make people happy. Jerk."
Off-screen, Tom Cruise seems like an okay guy. He never really says anything or does anything that is just plain stupid like Russell Crowe does. And he always seems humble and appreciative of the fans - always signing autographs, talking to them, etc... On-screen, you can't really tell if Tom Cruise is a good actor or not. He never takes roles in any real dramas. His last major role in a real drama was Born on the Fourth of July. And I'll admit, he was pretty good in that one. But since then everything else he's done are superficial, 'hero' type characters.
