Then I feel very sorry for you. I hope you never have to know someone who suffers from ADD, ADHD, depression, mania, psychosis, anxiety (the debilitating, unable to function in every-day kind of life anxiety) or is schizo-effective, bi-polar, aspergers, etc. Some of the above reflect cognitive/behavioral problems, and may be overcome with counseling and often with the help of medication. Others, such as schizo-effective, are organic in nature and require therapy and meds for proper treatment. The thought that people with mental problems should just "deal with it" is both ignorant and absurd.
Consider yourself above average then, because our society has become a bunch of starf***ers, hanging on every word of celebrities. Britney thinks sex during pregnancy is "crazy good"? Sweet! Johnny Depp hates America! Awesome! Tom doesn't like psychiatry and drugs? Well, me neither then! Giving celebrities a (very) public outlet for their often out-of-touch opinions can be a dangerous thing. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go learn how to create and break down universes with my mind, as I wouldn't want to disappoint Mr. Cruise.
Depression is a downward spiral all in itself. People can pick themselves up without medicating themselves with prozac and what not. Why on earth have we just seen sucides increase in modern times even with the creation of these wonder drugs? Pills are only a placebo. I don't find myself to be an ignorant person. People should learn to cope with stuff better. I find it weak to think that people need drugs for this or that just to cope with stuff. Suck it up, get yourself out of the hole and u'll feel better.
Right "suck it up".... Thats a novel idea. Never mind my ex-girlfriend was suicidal until she started taking prescription drugs. Should I have just told her to "suck it up"??? Should I tell my sister to just "suck it up" and cope after she gave birth to a dead baby after 7 1/2 months of pregnancy?? She hasn't been the same sense. Sometimes its not enough..... I tried everything to pick myself up on my own for about 3 years, but only got more depressed and anxious about life in general. Lexapro changed my life - for the better.
You have to realize that Clutchfans is MY public outlet for opinions. From here, I shall further my agenda and spread the word about the supreme and awesome joy of... jorts! Muh ha ha ha ha!!! Come join my Jortinology cul- ... err... religion! I AM FAMOUS, SO YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO ME AND DO WHAT I SAY! JORTS FOR ALLLLLLLL!
Well, you just weren't trying hard enough, were you Drewdog? Suck it up, whiner. You know that's all it takes.
You need to look at things from a broader perspective pradaxpimp. We can both agree that we aren't all born into this world with the same build. You can deal with things better than certain people, but there are people out there that just can't 'cope with stuff better' as you say. One of my best friends has OCD [Obsessive Compulsive Disorder]. There were thoughts that he just couldn't get out of his head, and we're not talking about happy thoughts either, and of course these thoughts would manifest into his actions and behaviors. With the help of Paxil and therapy, he's learnt to cope with these thoughts and in a sense live with them. My other best friend and I, and a select other few always tried to provide a positive, supportive and encouraging relationship/system and now with the help of Paxil, therapy, and some good friends my friend has been significantly better and has done this Paxil free over the last 3 or so years. Personally, I'm lucky and try to treat life by just riding with the waves...and I never had to seek any help (knock on wood) so far in my life...but I do know and I've seen first hand what drugs like Paxil can do. I'm no expert, but I believe that drugs (at least with Paxil) were never designed to be dependent upon for a lifetime; these drugs were designated to be taken for a prolonged period of time, and than the dosages would be eased off so that the patient can become slowly acclimated without the drugs. There are alot things out there that can make you feel good...whether it's alchohol, cigrattes, food, shopping or exercise...but the thing is, anything done in excess will eventually turn into an addiction...with drugs like Paxil and others, it's no different.
The real question tho', is one of relativity, is Drewdog really happy? Or does he just think he is? The even deeper question that someone might ask is, for the sake of the species, should drewdog feel better than when he was depressed? Or should he grin and bear it. Don't shoot the messenger, but A) If DrewDog and his depression are genetically superior and naturally selected for, he's altering the course of evolution by taking a drug that alters his place in the species/ or enviroment. He may not be as attractive to depressed chicks as he once was. Therefor hurting the gene pool. B) If Drewdog is the weaker gene, then taking the drug, and procreating, is weakening our gene pool. One of the deeper problems we never really think about is that we don't really know if depression is good or bad. We only know that it makes us feel things we don't want to feel. Now, I want depressed people to feel "Happier" so I'm an advocate of the antdpressant, but I cannot truly say if he should or shouldn't take the drug.
I'd like to tell all the people out there who have a physical chemical imbalance in their brain to "SUCK IT UP, PEOPLE!" . There! I'm sure their all feeling better now. If you want the chemicals to balance so you don't bi-pole on us, then take your vitamins, exercise, and eat right(thank you, Mr. Cruise).
To me, they're one in the same. If Drewdog feels that this is helping him and he's the happiest he's been in years, who is anyone else to say that he's not?
I for one am mad jealous that his aging ass is railing katie holmes. Nicole must be wiping her brow in relief at the moment.
interview was heavily chopped. though cruise's view was heavily influenced by scientology lauer was trying to make a point but kept repeating himself as was cruise they both suck at interviews lauer more so. as for meds for people who are mentally ill, if they're violent nothing to lose, but if they're not violent they could soon be. the problem is big pharms will pu$h drugs to psychologists who in turn pu$h drugs to patients who really don't need meds.
