    Off subject:

Will you conservatives stop complaining when some one gets chastised for a non P.C. opinion. You guys were all over the Dixie Chicks and Michael Moore, so stop with the HYPOCRICY. Please, its getting old. Everyone has a right to their opinion. Its as old and tired complaint as the liberal media bias.

So someone sees your dick. Big ****ing deal.

Personally, I don't think Todd Jones has anything to worry about in the lockerroom.

So you'd be cool with co-ed showers?

Big whoop. I've showered in an all girl residence with no doors on the shower stalls...

"Nothing is good or bad but that thinking makes it so."

Not universally true, but certainly true to the right or wrong of gender/shower issues.

there are some seriously insecure people in this world, i swear.

i consider myself to be a, well, let's just say i'm not an ugly dude. i've had passes made at me by women and men alike. and, really, it's no big deal. i know it's a cliche, but if you are confident in your own sexuality, there's no reason to get all worked up (no pun intended) over another person's sexual preference.

i have straight and gay friends, and i can tell you that there is little to no difference in the conversations that take place. we all have relationships, sex, jobs, stress, concerns, etc. it's ust that many straight people get bent out of shape when they hear someone talking about something that they would not do.

as for gay people "rubbing it in your face", how is that any different than straight couples making out in public? how is that any different than the dude at the bar who's trying to pick up on any woman that has a pulse?

get over it. like MacBeth said, why do i care who you are sleeping with???

Talk about ironic. All we're doing is criticizing what he said, we haven't demanded that he leave the country, boycott his jersey, or stop going to Rockies games.

Also, he's talking about a Broadway show. There are most definately a few gay players and I'm sure some if not all their teammates know or suspect. One of my issues though is stereotypes. When ever people talk about this and say things like Jones did, they always assume gay dudes are loud and boisterous about their sex lives. That's the assumption Jones is under and that's why people make the "sex" shouldn't be brought up in the work place statements when talking about treatment of homosexuals. Who's bringing it up though? When people say that, sometimes I can't help but think that what they are really trying to say is "I don't want to know if you are, so don't tell me" because they feel more comfortable around people they assume are straight.

No. It isn't. Not even a little. Not at all.

DD inferred it was wrong to criticize someone's opinion (even though he's among the top opinion criticizers on the board). pg said conservatives should stop complaining about criticism of opinions since they are so fond these days of doing the exact same thing. And then you cut and pasted, leaving out relevant sections, to make a funny.

Good try, though. Anyone know how to get a hold of Alanis Morissette? I've been meaning to explain irony to her too.

p.s. to DaDakota: Everyone has free speech, including the KKK. I guarantee that you wouldn't have posted what you did if the comments were racist in nature rather than homophobic. There are different levels of acceptance for different types of hatred and bigotry.

Definitely. It might be perceived differently if it were about something other than sexuality. Simply replace gay with another adjective.

``I wouldn't want a gay (white, black, latino, french, italian, polish, irish, jewish, muslim, christian) guy being around me,'' Jones told the paper. ``It's got nothing to do with me being scared. That's the problem: All these people say he's got all these rights. Yeah, he's got rights or whatever, but he shouldn't walk around proud. It's like he's rubbing it in our face. 'See me, Hear me roar.' We're not trying to be close-minded, but then again, why be confrontational when you don't really have to be?''

But you are certainly not a moral relativist. :D

Maybe he doesn't want a gay teammates 'cause them gay dudes throw like gurls, har har har.

^-- please note, I don't feel this way, it is just a joke. I think everyone is basically the same and should be treated accordingly, as their actions dictate.

"Hey! You calling me a homo? You try pitching in thin air, you ass pirate!... What's that? Oh, it's my mustache now? This here is a manly mustache, not one of them damn San Francisco style mustaches like I see in gay p*rn or all over the place when I walk down Castro street there at, like, 1 a.m. ... on a weekend. ... Uh, yeah, I have family that lives around there, okay. And all my family, I tell you what, they are straight, like the good lord intended... just like me... "

I'm okay with co-ed showers, restrooms, dorm rooms, country clubs, board rooms, etc...

[Side Note: What does Jones have to say about female reporters in the lockerroom -- players undress in front of female reporters.]

I wonder why so many public figures feel compelled to talk about their discomfort with homosexuals right now. Maybe SARS isn't the only thing that's contagious right now.

Remind me again....what are the academic requirements for the job of relief pitcher? How about for an actor?

In other words, who in the hell cares what Jones thinks about ANYTHING outside of hitter's tendencies (especially switch-hitters?).

    heh, switch hitters:D

I like the way my mom refers to gay people. In spanish she basically points people out and says, "hey, do you think he/they play(s) for the other team?"

Jerry: Not conversion. You're thinking conversion?

Elaine: Well it did occur to me.

Jerry: You think you can get him to just change teams? He's not going to suddenly switch sides. Forget

    about it.

    Elaine: Why? Is it irrevocable?

Jerry: Because when you join that team it's not a whim. He likes his team. He's set with that team.

Elaine: We've got a good team.

Jerry: Yeah, we do. We do have a good team.

Elaine: Why can't he play for us?

Jerry: They're only comfortable with *their* equipment.

This is a very interesting thread. One of the best that I have read on this site. My view on co-ed showers is this: good idea as a concept, but a bad one if used. There are bad people out there and a woman having to shower with a registered sex offender is just not plausible. Plain and simple from my view. Anyone have thoughts on this?
