i saw the movie last night. not to spoil it or anything - but that's not really why it controls itself. the hi-tech stealth is a learning machine, therefore it learns from everything it hears and develops into having it's own say on things from previous experiences.

good movie for special effects/action...but not a whole lot of plot - seems kinda pointless throughout.

This has been one of the worst summers for the movies in a long time. This is my third summer working at a theater, so I usually check out most of the movies since i get in for free. Well, even with free tickets, I've only seen five movies this summer. I remember talking to a friend of mine how there would be so many bombs this summer about six months go. Well, I was right.

While Batman Begins did fairly well, compared to the other **** out there this summer, it should have done 2x the business. I guess George Clooney just ruined it for a lot of people.

Here's how I'd rank the movies I've seen this summer.

    1. Batman Begins
    2. Hustle & Flow
    3. Star Wars
    4. Wedding Crashers
    5. War of the Worlds

All of those have been at least decent. Wedding Crashers a little overrated, IMO.

I think Stealth's preview was pretty good. I thought about going to see. DOH looks stupid and the only reason to see it is Jessica.

I'm usually a total summer movie w****, yet I only went to the theater ONCE this summer... to see Star Wars. The rest of the summer movie lineup just looked like crap (except for Batman, which I still haven't gotten around to seeing). After catching the "craptacular" War of the Worlds on SVCD (piracy connection for the win, yawr!), it seems my suspicions were indeed correct.

And as for Stealth, check out the 11% rating at RottenTomatoes.com. I mean, geez, even Fantastic Four (29%) and The Island (39%) doubled or tripled its score.

I think it's just that a lot of people don't care about the summer movie season anymore. Every year, for the past several years, more and more attention has been focused on the "Oscar season" of November and December when movies that are considered more likely to be critical darlings are released. As the focus has moved towards those movies and away from the Popcorn movies of the summer, the movies have become worse and the attendance even more so.

Personally, I'd much rather go see a movie that was released on December 25 as opposed to July 4. Chances are, you're going to see a much better movie.

I dunno about dukes of hazzard... i mean sure, it has actors/actresses who appeal to the younger audience. But, before everything else, the kids are going to be wondering, "what the heck is a dukes of hazzard? this looks LAME!"

And then the older audience who actually remember the dukes of hazzard on tv will be like "yeah, i remember dukes of hazzard.. but that tv show sucked".

    So, I predict a bomb.

I concur. This trailer makes the movie seem pretty kickass.

Plus, how can you go wrong with Jesse Biel?

Pretty sure Foxx was signed onto Stealth before he won the Oscar. I don't think his part is all that big in Stealth.

Stealth was finished before Foxx made Ray ~ it's just been sitting on the shelf because it's so bad.

I think the lesson for movie companies that this Summer has taught is don't expect huge returns when you turn out crap. The fact that Stealth and the Island came out in July has nothing to do w/ it in my opinion, cause July is still a huge month for movies (July 4th weekend). Stealth did so bad cause it got royally panned by critics and just looked really cheesy. None of the leads looked believable as pilots and the whole A.I. turning against its creators/becoming self aware has been done before on many occasions. The Island did bad because I think it was just marketed terribly and didnt really have an audience (trying to gear towards the younger crowd w/ the PG-13 rating yet had more adult themes w/ the cloning plot). Then you got Dukes and Bad News Bears that are by the numbers remakes that haven't and probably will not get much business. FF4 looked like crap and its drastic fall after it's opening week proved that. I think Hollywood needs to realize real quick that the age of stunning CGI, plotless action blockbusters is over...audiences are craving and wanting more now. As for the winter months, I do believe those months are becoming more crucial for Hollywood now, but Summer is far from dead. Hollywood's not about to put the huge popcorn flicks in the winter months anymore than it'll put Oscar fare in the summer

i thought it looked sweet too. i didn't check the critic reviews before going to see.

lemme put it this way. if you enjoyed the trailers for the movies... well... go ol' skool and rent the old "delta force" movies. same thing. not to steer you away or anything, but

    ***spolier***

    1. half the movie isn't even in the got darn planes.
    2. whoever posted the picture of johnny five... well... i'm not exaggerating when i say that it's the EXACT same personality as the rogue plane.
    3. whoever said that they think that jamie doesn't have a big role in the movie, well... yeah... he's the first to go.

it's not even a mindless popcorn flick. awful.

I liked The Island, but I can easily see how it would flop... Ewan McGregor is one of my favorite actors, but he isn't a huge star to bring people to the box office. The Island is also based on a very controversal subject and that can either be a good or bad thing, and in this case cloning wasn't something people wanted to see. As far as Stealth, I don't see how ANY major studios or actors could have imagined that it would have been a hit... I mean come on, a runaway jet? Wow, what a story!

I'm loving the fact Hollywood is falling flat on their faces. They just keep rehashing the same movies over and over, and keep ripping off stories or names from past movie successes just to make a buck. Let em burn.
