Chop up a sweet onion and a green pepper into small pieces and mix with the ground meat. Salt/Pepper/Garlic Powder the outside and grill

Wow thats almost exactly how I usually make mine, so thin & hot it's a very short time til done, and super thin makes two patties and one slice of cheese the perfect ratio. Don't have one of those presses though.

Grilled is a different ballgame though, can't beat that flame/smoke flavor!

He just uses a flat trowel but I use two spatulas. It definitely lacks the flame/smoke flavor of a grilled patty. I am going to start playing with smoked salts and liquid smoke to try and get some of that back. I definitely still prefer grilled but these are always delicious and I currently don't have to have access to a grill at my apartment. It is one of the biggest reasons I am going to move.

I used to make my own mix with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, a touch of cayenne, a bit of paprika, and some allspice.

Now I use the mix that comes from The Hitching Post. It used to be called Magic Dust, but they had to change the name to something else. I use that and add my own salt and pepper. That's pretty much it.
