You must be an ass. I hate the Lakers, more than you do I gaurantee. They have had a boner for Yao and have come right out and said as much, so that's my trade idea. If you don't like it, don't be a jerk about it.
I usually like your posts Clutch City but you need to put down the pipe or something... You want to replace Yao and the Stro show with Chris Mihm and Lamar Odom!
YM doesn't play to the expectations, but JVG just totally doesn't know how to use him. Who should pack his ass first?
I like Lamar as much as the next man, but his play has been pretty inconsistent since he's joined the Lakers. Granted, it is hard for him to adapt to an offense set up completely around Kobe, but still it makes me a bit worried. I love Yao and wish he would stay and develop into a superstar. But if we must trade him, I still say: Yao, Howard, Swift, Sura for Brand, Magette, Livingston, Cayman.
Hey, not to rip on your trade proposal, but I gotta agree with crash on this one...I think the Lakers would do this in a second. That Rocket lineup you posted has a ceiling of about 42-40. IMO that trade would transform the Rockets into last year's Laker team, and vice versa...I don't see the point in that. Which brings me to a larger point. I don't think it would be possible to get equal value for Yao all things considered. He's not consistent enough to get us a superstar right now, but his presence and (sometimes) great play is more valuable than picking up a couple of semi-stars in return.
Kobe, Yao, and Phil Jackson could be an excellent team, new dynasty? Even Jackson plays Yao as if he played Luc Lonley, that could be enough. JVG got no clue now.
Ok, I totally understand (and appreciate) the criticism of my trade proposal, but I feel I should explain a little more what my thinking is with this whole thing. Look at the league today. There are no teams that have their best player at center. Power forward is where the serious big man talent plays in this era. Even Ben Wallace is a power forward masquerading as a center. In order to win, you just need a SOLID center who can hold his own. Just look at these teams and consider who they have at PF/C. Pistons (Wallace/Wallace) Clippers (Kaman/Brand) Mavs (Dampier or Diop/Nowitzki) Pacers (Foster or Pollard/O'Neal) Suns (K.Thomas/Stoudemire) Wolves (Olowakandi/Garnett) Spurs (Mohammed/Duncan) Those are some of the best teams this season and for recent seasons, including the last 3 NBA champions. So what I'm saying is that we KNOW that the Lakers have wanted Yao for a long time now, so IF we were to do a trade with them, I'd want to get their best center (Mihm) and the best player they have who can play the 4 (Odom). On top of that you throw in Devin George who, although he has only been in the league 6 years, already has the experience of 3 championship runs of which he was a solid contributor. He's a versatile player with height and athleticism who I believe would play great defense under Van Gundy and can hit the 3 at a decent clip. Yes, Odom may not be a typical power forward but he causes matchup problems with his versatility, he's young, and the man puts up 15/10/5 with a couple of steals and a block and he only commands 11 shots per game. If I were to ACTUALLY advocate this trade, yeah I would probably have to ask for a couple of 1st rounders from the Lakers because they want Yao so bad. With that said, I would do this trade, and well...I guess I'm alone on this one but that's fine with me
You make it sound like I don't know who Lamar Odom is. Regardless, any guy who can underachieve and still give me 15/10/5/2/1 without dominating the ball is a guy I would like to have on my team.
The clips wouldn't even pick up the phone on this trade. What's next, you wanna trade yao for LeBron?
IF we traded Yao, say next year when his new contract kicks in, maybe: Yao plus JHo plus $1MM in filler for KG. KG would be 30 with 3-4 more years at roughly $20MM. Yao and JHo have long term deals totally about $20MM/year. KG + Swift + TMac would be an athletic front line. I'd much rather have KG than Yao and JHo for the next 3 years.
And why would Minny do this trade?. if they are gonna be willing to even consider the idea of trading KG, they would want at the very least equal value and talent in return. BTW, if KG could'nt make a winner out of minny, what makes you think yao will?. KG, is 3 folds ahead of yao in talent.
I know yao's value is pretty low right now, but i'm sure we can still get more then odom.anyhow, it's pretty pointless because yao is not getting traded anytime soon.
