Warriors improvise as much as 60% of their offense. It's read and react.

    1. We need smarter players
    2. We need Harden to commit to moving without the ball
    3. We need Dwight to set screens off the ball (while he's at it, set good screens on too.)

Your play needs fit your players. I.E. If you don't have players who can create for themselves why have an offense that requires that they do.

Harden moving without the ball is useless since most of our players can barely pass. That makes sense when we thought Lawson would be something but he's not. The next guy with some type passing skill we deactivated. Again if you are going to go with read and react you need players who are smart enough to read and have the talent to react. Citing the Warriors means nothing despite popular belief around here they have more talent than we do, much more talent. The Rockets need more talent or a coach who can form an offense that doesn't require our role players to rely on Harden or try for create for themselves. The fact that Michael Beasley came to the Rockets and is now our second best player should give an inclination on the type of players we have.

GSW has a special mix of players that includes the best player in the league/all-time great in Curry. He's playing at a level that no one in the league can touch or ever has touched, including LBJ.

This doesn't mean that the Rockets need Harden to 'commit to moving without the ball'. Just because Curry is awesome at that doesn't mean Harden would be.

Kerr's coaching style seems to be a lot like Rick Adelman's. It just happens to mesh very well with GSW's roster. That team can basically coach itself at this point (see Luke Walton as 'coach').

Fans want an easy fix and that often includes 'hey if we just got a new coach everything would be awesome'. That's just not reality. No coach has some magic formula that hasn't been discovered.

You're post is confusing. Warriors have an offensive scheme, we don't. Their coaching staff will tell the players to run a couple of set plays, we don't run plays. Warriors don't improvise, WE improvise.

Rockets are so inconsistent because it is 100% up to the players to win the game, they have no staff to listen to they can do whatever they want. AND ITS THIS WAY CAUSE DARYL ANALYTIC GEEK MOREY MADE IT THIS WAY. HES THE SOLE REASON WHY THE TEAM IS LIKE THIS. HIM!!

He has thrown away two (2) years of a potential championship team because he wants to do it his way. He wants to do it the fat analytic geek moreyball way. I would have LOVED to see what Steve Kerr could have done with last years team, we should have picked him up and fired McHale after Portland but no he gets the Warrior job and now THEY WILL GO DOWN AS THE BEST TEAM THE NBA HAS EVER SEEN.

    THIS COULD HAVE BEEN US!

To add, we have a bunch of athletic, long players who can play multiple positions and as a group shoots average from beyond the arc. It seems our personnel more than less fits our style. Our offensive has been top 15 for almost a decade and top 10 more often than not in the Harden era (we are 4th in offensive efficiency this year).

Were you reading some other article about the GSW or just up to your usual trolling?

    Yuck.

The Warriors improvise their offense. No. Steph Curry is so good that he doesn't need to follow the script to score/win.

Watch every single other player on that team. Your 60% is right around 90% for people not named Steph Curry on that team.

You heard it here first folks. The Rockets could be 61-6 right now with Kerr as their coach.

Do not compare this team to a team on its way to crush 72-10....especially offensively.

its ok . . . .neither will like 30 other teams

That Said - This sounds like what we heard with the triangle

Which goes back to my problem with most coaches now
YOU COACH IN PRACTICE and during the game you just make adjustments

When they trying to COACH ON THE RUN . . . usually means you failed
This is what most coaches cannot seem to do

The problem isn't us running offensive plays or not, nor the coach. The problem lies with the owner. Le$ needs uproot the team and move it. Move it to Katy, TX. Any opposing team coming to town will want nothing to do with us and be waiting to evacuate immediately. That is true fear, my brehs.

Clearly our offense isn't good enough to win. Even though it's a very good offense it's not enough. If your type of play is going to allow for such bad defense you need players who shoot the ball a lot better than the Rockets do. You can have a team that's successful and win 50 games without having a top 20 defense you just need players who can score better.

If you look at teams like the Suns I think 2008 around that time they were bad defensively but they still won. The reason is they had players who shot well above average at 3 and the things that they were supposed to do offensively above average. So if you are going to have a team that shoots this many three's and relies on read and react you need players on the offensive side who do those things above the average to offset the bad defense.

If you are going to have a bad defense like we have then you need to have one hell of an offense. If you look at our players percentages there is room for considerable improvement. This post is on offense so I was talking about offense yes but ofcourse I know our defense is bad. The point is if we had players with Harden that fit our style then our offense would be even better and we wouldn't really need a better defensive. One could argue on how far we would go in the playoffs but it would certainly be better than what we are doing now.

So you think the goal is to be simply the greatest offensive team? Or do you think that despite last year's defensive rankings, this personnel is doomed to be bad defensively?

How did the Nash/Stoudemire era compare to the James Harden era in terms of wins? You maybe surprised....

Well yes.... if we had the best players who "fit our style" then yes. However, the NBA doesn't work like the NFL or MLB with a deep draft and different team structure.

How many teams in the NBA have the players to fit their "style".

No offense, but you seem big on "style" but not much on substance. Morey knew he couldn't fill the lineup with great shooters and creators, so he filled up with players who can play and guard multiple positions and drive/score/pass/shoot the 3 at an average clip.

I don't understand why the other posters aren't getting the key insight from the OP. Posters here b*ch about the Rockets not "running plays" like the "Warriors do" - Boom! The Warriors don't run plays all the time either! So maybe change what you b*ch about now. Hahaha
