I was disappointed with the firing of JVG. Primarily, because I valued their defense so much...and felt that it wouldn't carry over without him.

    I was WRONG.

And I'm so happy I was wrong. Watching this team play is pure joy.

The one difference between JVG and Adelman is the trust in players and the fuel of confidence. If it's JVG coaching this game, he would play much fewer players and exhaust those that get heavy minutes. Adelman changed lineups and rest players according to game situation. He allows players to continue to play when they're hot and even or rest them if they're not. Also he substitute based on what the other coach have out there.

Great point. I never was a JVG fan but I have to give him credit for instilling the defensive intensity that has really been the hallmark of the team. What I like about Adelman and the team JVG summed it up best when the Rox went cold and he cracked, "It looks like they're running my offense." Its not so much that JVG can't coach offense but that he lacked creativity on offense. Adelman though seems to have a better sense of how to shake things up when it looks like things aren't working. For instance in this game going with the small lineup even when it looked like the Rox were losing interior defense as the Lakers kept on trying to take the ball inside.

    Exactly

Sometimes I just sift through a thread to find your posts. You always make sense and even if I disagree its not because you failed to be logical. Not that I'm pole jockin' or anything.

To shed a bit of perspective,

The Rockets are 6 wins away from equaling Van Gundy's finest season, and this in Adelman's first season with the players still adjusting to his system and learning to play and both McGrady and Yao missing significant time, in fact, Yao is going to miss roughly half of the season once the playoffs unfold.

To shed a bit of perspective,

If the wheels fall off the wagon and the Rox lose every remaining game against playoff opponents and only win against lottery teams.........we'll still finish with 54 wins, one more than last year, in Adelman's first season, with the players learning a new system, and Yao missing the last half the season.

To shed a bit of perspective,

This team is a 60 win team next season if everybody stays healthy.

To shed a bit of perspective,

If the players learn the system better, stay healthy, and we got another upgrade or two to the roster using our expiring contracts and draft picks this offseason................we may even be a 65+ win team next season and a mortal lock for the Finals.

To shed a bit of perspective,

We have a very good chance of taking out Boston at home Tuesday night as they are on the road, banged up, and they will have had to tangle with the Spurs on the road just the night before. In addition, we hop over to N.O. the next night and if we can past that game (iffy since back to back on the road and they are lying in wait to take us after last game), then I like our odds of getting to 28 in a row with a watershed game against San Antonio.

To shed a bit of perspective,

If we get past San Antonio on March 30 on the road, then the all time win streak record is going to be broken by our team and we are a mortal lock for the top seed in the West.

To shed a bit of perspective,

Something like 7 of 10 teams that won over 15 games in a row, won the NBA championship, and all 3 of the other teams that won over 18 in a row did win the Championship.

    WE ARE CONTENDERS!

    Disclaimor:
This team will only go as far as Rafer takes them.

Now for reality, I think we have a very good chance of getting past Boston, but I don't like our chances going on the road to N.O., Golden State, and Phoenix. I'm calling for our streak to end during that triad.
