I love how people feel their anecdotal experiences are enough to export universally. Mr Chapman, you have committed so many logical fallacies in your post that to take your argument seriously would be a grievous oversight on my part. Instead I will say this, our system is corrupt. We do not preach preventative medicine, rather we preach band aid medicine. We fix problems as they come, not before they come. It's not just in our health care, it is in our way of life. We send our most intellectual members to college, where they incur hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of debt. While some do get to go for free, most have to spend the rest of their lives paying back what they owe. Our concept of debt shows how we as a society do not know how to see past the here and now. Mr. Obama and friends recently passed legislation that forces Americans to improve the quality of their lives for both today and tomorrow. Mr. Obama has given you something you evidently do not have, an ability to look to what will be. Yes, your anecdotal case is an exception to what Mr. Obama was fighting for, but that does not mean that others have had the same experience. Your arrogance will leave you blind to the suffering of others around you.

    Maybe, maybe not.

I think it is clear that insurance companies will have more policies to write and claims to process. Agents will have to adapt their business models accordingly.

Remember, there were a lot of blacksmiths put out of business when the car was invented. That does not make the automobile a bad idea.

When the government mandates me and 30 million others to get insurance, that is a government take over. And please don't compare this to car insurance. My lifestyle is not detrimental to your health. Also, don't bother with the canned line of everyone else having to burden the uninsured costs. This bill did NOTHING to bring down or control costs. A single payer system is much better than the proposed public option or this bill. Further, I don't care if its hillarycare or if the republicans originated the idea of mandated insurance. Bottom line, its a horrible idea to give the insurance companies near complete control of everyone's health care.

I don't know, Mr. Chapman here did pinch out a turd of a post within the past couple of months that had to do with humans not coming from apes and Iraq bombing the U.S. that was even more mind-numbing than this one. (How do those two things end up in the same post anyways?) His post here is a nice runner-up though.

One rumor has commissions in one particular market segment being cut by 75%. I always liked the buggy-whip companies example myself!

Obviously you're gullible to partisan rhetoric from the right.

But you're brian_chapman, so I would expect no less!

That's what I was thinking. Or at least hoping, for his sake.

Anyway, I just wanted to point out from my own anecdotal evidence that it seems to me the people who are most critical of the social net are the most likely to abuse it. They figure everyone else is doing it, so they better get theirs. As it turns out, Brian, most people are not as dishonest as you.

There are legitimate concerns over this bill. It is not, however, a government takeover. A takeover would be where the doctors are government employees and government made all the decisions. Until you can make that distinction, it is impossible to discuss the legitimate concerns with you.
