Not sure about that DD, if Dwight Howard is averaging around 21-23, I'm Hakeem could easily get to 25-27 ppg. He is a far better scorer than any big man in the league right now. He might struggle a little bit more, but he could definitely get those same numbers, given what we could call relative competition.
No derailing of the thread !! This is a Yao 20-10 thread....if you want to argue about Hakeem in today's zone rules, start your own thread please. DD
That will never happen. Brooks will probably average 15 shots a game but Yao, our highest scorer, will average around 11 shots a game. Like Aaron Brooks said after our last Detroit game, we have to keep opposing teams honest and confound them by purposely *not* going to Yao (56 % Fg) and letting Brooks (40%) shoot instead. Such a strategy will confuse nearly everyone in the building, Rockets and opponents alike as it is completely asinine and unexpected.
i'm not talking about yao or his # of shots per se. i know aaron has the full support from adelman and probably has the green light to look for his shots. i just want to point out that, although he's a good scorer, his fg% isn't all that great. in other words, that he's a good shooter is knida a myth.
for a guy who looks to "get his" as much as he does, Aaron's Fg% is atrocious. Barely above 40% yet has the green light to chuck away. I guess people will support anyone not named Rafer even if said entity is barely better than Rafer in the very area where Rafer was weak....
let me say i agree with you on this rafer comparison - before dd comes back and accuses us of derailing the thread.
Honestly I dont think Yao can make it. Since he could not make to 20-10 earlier, there is no reason he would make it up in the last 8 games. Exception is to change game plan by rox, like throwing more balls to Yao or shooting more every game. But again I dont see the reason why those guys would do that.
^ Also in no way am I saying Brooks is great at getting people the ball but he is not the only one who has problems feeding the ball to Yao.
not much to root for here.......I wouldnt want adelman running yao in the ground to try to average these numbers, especially down the stretch run.....wouldnt be to smart..... we know hes fragile....just get to the playoffs healthy yao and rocks and I will take 19 and 9 all day.......... I would rather we get some wins...his numbers mean nuthin to me as long as we win...hopefully get some easy wins and rest him a little.......i personally would root for that more than the average 20-10 numbers IMHO
I'll be satisfied if he can just manage to average <3 TO's for the remaining games. On the year he's got 218 turnovers in 70 games played, for a clip of 3.1 per game (down from 3.3 and 3.5 in the past two years, but his TO rate by Hollinger is higher than ever, 15 compared to 13.6 and 13.2 the past two years). For him to finish the season under 3 turnovers per game, he would have to average 2 turnovers for the remaining 8 games. (218 turnovers so far + 2 turnovers per game *8 games left = 234 / 78 games played total = exactly 3 TO/G). C'mon Yao! You can do it! 20 / 10 / <3
I know you were kidding but this is the funniest first post in a new thread ever. I am still laughing. As for the thread it self I am all aboard. Choo Choo
Double-double, triple-double, 20-10, etc. are the most meaningless stats. Yet, the media love them. The casual fans love them, as if a player who averages 22-9 or 19-12 is somehow inferior to a 20-10 guy.
Who cares about 20-10. Lets see if Yao can carry the team past the first round instead of getting clowned like he did 2 years ago. I hope the racist Scola steals all of Yao's rebounds.
