No I think it's very judgemental to cast a shadow on the kid for things that happened at age 19.

mar1juana and guns at an accident....charges throw out.

Punch a woman....different sites claim two women poured a drink on his sister which a fight ensued. Some day the sister started it. Porter came to the aid of his sister. Grab the woman's wig. Lady had bruises. Witnesses claimed Porter punched her others say no. DA threw the case out.

Member here saying Barkley came to the aid of a woman in ok for throwing a guy out the window.
Dude could have lacerated an artery.....but it was in ok?

Just a lot of double standards. Judging these players for past or future things is crazy.

We don't know what skeletons are in any of these in players closets. I can link Durant to a photo
of him coming out of a club and he opens his car door and a mysterious bag falls to the ground. Looked like a bag of weed to everyone.

Slippery slope if we do that. People told me keep out of Clinton's business for an affair with Monica. It's his personal business. Ok.

AC Green reported sex in the locker room, whirl pool by teammates like Magic Johnson and others before and after games. MJ had
a mistress In every city like most.

Speaking of Jordan, many are saying his retirement was actually a suspension because
of gambling addiction. (When he went to play baseball). None of these guys are perfect.

Peewee Herman was adored by kids and parents paid lots of money for his merchandise....
then they found out PeeWee took his and playhouse everywhere with him.

    Nobody's perfect.

No doubt, but hopefully KPJ wouldn’t pull a Montrezl Harrell and get felony drug possession after being caught with 3 pounds of the chronic at a traffic stop.

Right… in one of the most meritocratic industries on the planet.

Again, KPJ got kicked off his college team and essentially the team that drafted him gave him away. Sucks but KPJ isn’t so highly touted or plays such a premium position that he is going to be given a lot of slack.

All that is true, BEFORE he got to Houston as a 19 year old kid.

And in Houston he has one episode of being upset when he was playing well and got injured and was sitting out the 2nd half.....

People equate that to the earlier stuff which is just not related......many players get frustrated......it happens.....big deal.

If he was causing trouble in Houston, I would be right there with you, but all he is doing in Houston is playing GREAT basketball and developing quite nicely....and it is GOOD FOR HOUSTON if he keeps it up.

    Right, RIGHT?

    GO ROCKETS !

Or he realizes he can get more than they have offered on the open market?

The KPJ hate is minimal as well, it's just a handful of guys like yourself that continually **** on the guy.

The fact that JC has gotten any hate shows how irrational posters can be.

You can ask the same question of anybody on the team, can you trust them?

He is nowhere near like Rasheed Wallace who was continually a head case and since when does KPJ keep getting technicals and ejections?

You are really reaching comparing KPJ to Wallace and Randolph.

J Tate had more technicals than KPJ so do you him?

This is a convenient way to put it. The logic is this: Nobody is perfect, therefore everybody is equally good and equally bad, and you can trust them equally.

By this logic, we can say this: There is no perfect player. Some imperfect players get the max contract. Therefore every player should get the max contract.

Yes, you can and should ask the same question of anybody on the team. But do you have the same answer for everybody?

I have already said in my post that these guys don't have the same issues. Getting technicals is just one example. But the common thing about them is that they couldn't be trusted even though they are very talented.

    UM what?

    Do you have answers?

So you already know how this plays out?

You keep saying KPJ can't be trusted because of guys like Randolph and Sheed when he is nothing like those guys, those lead the NBA in techs while KPJ is about average.

So again you ask the same question about any young player, can they be trusted, Tate had more techs, so why are you not asking about him?

What other examples do you have of KPJ and those guys doing the same things?

What an absurd thing to say to @Clutch, who's response was both obvious and a bucket from half court.
Where do these guys come from?

How is it that when the team is at it's worst, the number of jock-riding fans (for unworthy players like KPJ) is at it's highest? They are just basketball players, some of y'all really need to take a long look at yourselves in the mirror.

One can think KPJ is an all star with some minor problems based on some of the posts here.

Seems like KPJ has been butting heads with Rockets coaches more than just once. Seems like a pattern of behavior more than just a “one off”.

He’s a combo guard in a league full of talent combo guards so the Rockets shouldn’t rush into making a decision about a volatile player.

I’m not saying we need to jettison him, but just let things play out. He’s obviously not viewed as an important core piece by the team.

    Or we trust everyone
    Or we don't trust anyone

It's an entertainment and if you wish to tune in.....tune in
If you wish to tune out.....tune it out

Because there is no guarantee something won't happen with anyone.

Gilbert Arenas was making big money was he not? Then the locker room incident.

L Spreewell was making big money.....until he tried to choke his coach Carlisle

You can take the boy out of the country; but you can't take the country out of the boy.
You can take the boy out of the hood; but you can't take the hood out of the boy.

Are you never giving a max to a kid from the hood?
Are you never giving a max contract to a kid that grew up
without a father figure? Lacks discipline?

Porter's agent can hire two babysitters making $75 K to keep Porter
out of trouble just like the Cowboys did with Michael Irving and
Dez Bryant.....agent tell Porter if he puts up the same numbers
as the last 30 games of this past season.....you can make
an additional $23M from what you are making now!!

Don't you think Porter will stay clean for the year? I do, and we will
still be crossing this bridge at years end......it's a matter of trust.

If the Rockets don't have it now......then they won't have it next summer.
Trade him like they did Wood. Porter's $3M will be easy to trade.
25 other teams will trade for him in a heartbeat.....and capitalize
on the work put in to get Porter to where he is today.
John Lucas has supplied discipline, patience, structure
and most likely importantly boundaries. That's all a kid lacking a father
    figure really needs.

    Will they change over night?....no.
Will they not lash out at those of authority (criticizing them)? Probably not.
They grew up with no one telling them what to do and are testing those
now, telling them what to do.

probably leave at halftime.....but maybe come back and apologize
to those who matter. Say the father figure (John Lucas)....the team, coach.

Porter took his punishment, didn't pout, didn't sulk (if you look at the numbers).
    That's a very good sign.

John Lucas brings people to his ranch with no
air conditioning and chores to do. In an interview he says, "the kids complain initially,
but I tell them, if you do like it, go back from which you came....this ain't no resort." [Paraphrasing]
Says, some leave.....but those that stay tell him thank you, more often than not, for the experience.

$15 - $18M is not the max......if he puts up the numbers in the final 39 games with no
incident (because he hired handlers).....he will get Brunson money. Now that's max.
Trust is a two way street. If the Rockets are low balling him with $10 to $14M....that's an insult.

There will be no discount. Some team will offer him $25-$30M

*Cowboys learned....let the handlers (babysitters) throw people through the window
or pull a knife on someone or gun. Not the Porter's of the world.
