Why do you think rate stats prove anything? All stats should be looked at if we are going to use any stats.
Man these guys keep looking like fools. One of them tries and make some insane argument and then the others just get sucked in and then you b**** slap them all without much effort. I guess all of them would have knocked CP3 because he could not connect with Capela on lobs like Harden.
Creating MORE imaginary reasons to dislike the kid is contrived. Better for the Mob to diminish him using the reality of the situation. Scooter is struggling, his confidence seems shot and putting less on his plate would do him good. I want to see these "pure" PGs come in here and do better. Shouldnt take a top 2 pick to make it happen since it gets offered as such a no brainer easy fix that anyone would be better than KPJ - lets see it!
Highlight the stats that make them look similar, ignore and minimize the stats that show the gulf between them.
Yeah if KPj can maintain some of those stats while using the next 68 games to bring up TS%, eFG%, USG%, Asts.....TOV's down. Then I come pretty close to my preseason expectations. I expect two more assists per game with the Bruno lob threat in PnR and Jabari getting his NBA sea legs going....add some Tate contributions. Right now it just takes one or two good shooting games to get some of those stats revved up.
I have criticized Terrence Jones for shooting for average from 3. Make one then he will shoot another....miss that first one and he wouldn't shoot another. Keeping the average up was important because he was going into free agency. I don't know what Sengun is doing? He's not up for free agency. Other than trying to make his fan base happy by keeping his TS%, eFG%, FG% high by staying close to the rim where shooting percentages are high from rebound put back dunks or layups.....I don't think the Rockets curren team are in his best interests. ___________ And you are right, because Sengun won't or hesitates to shoot the 3.....teams are switching in space. Always keeping the Big near the paint and using a guard to sit near the FT line to challenge Sengun putting the ball on the floor. You don't need a big to challenge the Sengun 3 since you want to encourage or beg him to shoot it.
I don't know why people dismiss the potential of TyTy at this point. He has played a total of 4 minutes of NBA ball. Of course he is not better than KPJ. He probably isn't better than Nix. But KPJ and Nix aren't rookies. I'd give Nix the benefit of doubt that he might improve into a serviceable player. Why not give Nix and TyTy some burns and see what happens. Hopefully they won't hold the ball as long as KPJ does and let the touch distribution spread to other players.
No doubt. He just needs to let it fly! Getting in game reps from 3 is important for him. He would really help the team and take his game to another level
Did you not see TyTY in the preseason? It was clear that he’s not ready for the NBA at all. He’s where he’s supposed to be, in the G league. There’s nothing wrong with it. KJ wasn’t ready and was awful his rookie season until he got those reps with the vipers. This will be great experience for him
Preseason? You talkin bout preseason? Spoiler Why can't he get his reps in real NBA games? We are not dying to win. And it's not like we have 4 or 5 PG waiting to have PT. (KJ played a position where we had several guys in front of him. The point is, people are saying, "We don't have a choice at PG. So we have to play KPJ there." There are choices. How about develop young PGs as PG and develop young SGs as SG?
Bc if you’re awful when teams are play with half ass effort, you just aren’t ready. The real games on this level would be too overwhelming. He needs to play against lesser competition to find his way
Nix is also not NBA ready, he is just playing PG because of seniority. If TyTy was drafted before Nix, Nix will be the one in g-league instead.
Because of staggering, Nix has been playing SG at times with kpj or Gordon + goon squad (KJ, Garuba, Tari). Nix still has his ups and downs, but the switch, seems to have helped his 3ball. We're losing anyways, why not give Tyty a try. KPJ is not necessaryily locking up the opponent guards anyhow. Match up wise, in the pelicans game, Alvarado got into KPJ's head.
What you say applies to almost all of our young players. Even high picks like Green (last season) and Smith (this season) didn't look NBA ready. If we were a contending team, these guys wouldn't be starting, probably would have been sent to the g-league. But we are not trying to win. And we don't have a lot of veteran players playing in front of those young guys.
TyTy is wasn’t a top 3 pick like them. He’ll get his chance when he’s ready. I don’t think he’ll ever be good, but he’ll get his chance eventually. We can argue him playing over Nix, but him starting is just crazy. Playing for the vipers has helped so many of our young guys, so I don’t see the problem with it
The Tyty is something we could advocate, but right now the point might be moot, since Rocket's decision to send him down to G league is already made. Maybe later on.... 2nd of half season. I dunno... we could tinker the lineup, but for the starters seems like the overall offensive system needs a revamp. Q1 usually Rockets come out less iso heavy, but as game wears on, they go away from it. Let's see what happens with the Mavs.
Dominating in the G-league doesn't mean much. Guys like Alex Caruso, who didn't dominate the g-league, have teams lining up to offer him a contract, but g-league MVPs like Trevelin Queen can't even get a minimum contract. The reason is simple, Alex Caruso is showcasing his role player skills, and Queen is showcasing his star player skills. Nix is exactly like Queen, he turns the ball over a lot (high TO rate is usually reserve for the best players on the team), and he doesn't hustle. He doesn't do things that role players are supposed to do. What the Rockets need from a PG off the bench is not a potential star, but a guy that plays the role player position well. Protecting the ball, limiting turnovers and hustling.
