Nope, it was a 3 year, 20 million dollar contract for Tate, 7 mil this year, 6.5 mil next year, and a 7 mil team option the year after that.

Funny you keep harping on the "ego" of those who disagree with you but try very hard to avoid talking about the length of the guaranteed part of the deal so not to expose your real long term proposal all along. That's not very honest discussion. Ego?

I'm not sure why there still needs to be an on-going debate, when the facts are pretty clear.
    1. One camp is not fully convinced with KPJ, either because of his character issues, or his ability as a player, that he is worth 15-20 million+. Therefore, delaying the extension, or extending him on a friendly team friendly contract that wouldn't impact cap flexibility, would be ideal.
    2. The other camp thinks KPJ is worth a fully 15-20 million+ commitment over 4 years, and that there is a market that will pay even more than that.
What actually happened is KPJ only signed a 16 million dollar 1 year extension, but the team has him locked up for 3 more years under their terms, that they can essentially choose to break anytime. That means the Rockets recognize his potential, but they also recognize his red flags, which is why they offered KPJ by far the most player unfriendly "large" contract that this league has ever seen. KPJ literally has to prove he is worth 15-20 million practically every year after his first guaranteed year, meaning the Rockets have ridiculous leverage over him if KPJ ever has any kind of injury.

Hats off to KPJ if him and his agent actually thinks they can do better, but they opted to take this deal instead to stay with the team. Otherwise, they took what they assess is likely the best offer on the market, and I think this is a fair deal for him as well.

I don't know how well it reflects on the front office if we cut him due to an injury. I think the non guaranteed thing is more of a safety shutoff for if KPJ goes off the rail again in terms of attitude. I think even if he barely imrpvoes we will still honor a big part of his contract

Whilst I don't think the Rockets will cut him due to an injury, it will likely reduce the cap hit since it means he won't hit his incentives. In addition, if KPJ doesn't improve and the Rockets want to trade him, his contract is fantastic as a expiring for trade purposes.

One thing is for certain, Stone has been absolutely fantastic as a GM so far. The fact that he came up with this unprecedented solution for KPJ gives me a lot of hope that the franchise is in good hands.

Thats exactly what this is about and you saying its not true just solidifies it for me. This whole platform is a cringe fest of bullies and cyber gangstaz who throw around insults and high five each other when making fun of others, and then turtle up like some b****es when things go contrary to their opinion. Take your L and go sit on your hands in the corner. Im through trying to be civil. Some of you better just put me on ignore because the more you play this remorseless BS the more Im going in on you hoes.

This is what I've said. Kevin will outplay his $15 to $18M deal.

So if he played the season the market would have been set at
$20+M (assuming a team or teams will move money to go after
big price free agents,....others assume no teams can be creative
like Morey and she'd cash in a seasons time).

I've always said $9M offer was an insult. KPj taking $15M to $18M
was a happy medium for both sides. He will outplay the $15M....
but he likes the team, players, coaches, city enough that he gave
    the team discount.

Meaning: if he gets the numbers I predict:
    20 points, 7.8 Asts...5.5 rebs...38% (3P%)...34 (Ast%)..14 (TOV%)
He would command $25M or more (compared to what Poole got
who gets less Asts and rebs).

A marginal spread of $10M from that $15M base in this contract.
Which is greater than that insulting $9M cap hold amount.

    Wut?

So you think KPJ deserves near max money?

Either you think KPJ is ridiculously underpaid, or you don't know much about the NBA or contracts.

We just had a guy who signed a worst contract on the team last year?

Look at what happened to one of the Morris twins.

He has 16 million guaranteed and the ability to get max money at 27 when the salary goes up even further and the team has bird rights.

The stupid **** ya'll say just to denigrate KPJ is amazing.

What? no i sure as hell don't think he deserves max money. I think it's a great deal for us because the rockets now have 2 years to evaluate him at zero risk, before deciding if they should exercise a 2/38 team option

So how is it the most team friendly deal in history?

Either you think he deserves much more money or you don't really know the history of NBA contracts.

Just look at what Schroeder is making now.

Look at what happened to one of the Morris twins.

Look at what Jeff Green has been playing for the last 5 years.

Well it's clearly a cope by a "anything over 12 million is a massive overpay" type.

It is a very team friendly deal though, that's why it's a win for both team and player.

Most team friendly deal in NBA history? Maybe, maybe not.

    “Incredibly” team friendly? Absolutely

I don't understand what this has to do with anything I said?

And just because it's in a tweet by Clutchfans holds no real weight with me, it's shown they have a bias about certain players and are homers, I can make up my own mind.

So what point were you trying to make?

So, if KPJ was offered to choose between 12 million guaranteed for 4 years and the current contract, which one do you think he would pick?
