If you read my other thread, Drexler was a exception because he was a hometown kid, and the rockets wronged him by draft McCray ahead of him

I never relented on trading for Howard. Seems like everyone else got crushes on mid round draft picks. Guess what? Morey hasn't even signed the 3 rookies. He could have signed them weeks ago but we all know what going to happen.

Were people crying about trading all of this drafts picks before the draft? No.

Glad Morey doesn't see faces and falls in love.

That estimation is way on the high side.

That's the reason why Morey is the GM and I'm a fan going on 31+ years. The best thing about being a fan(atic) is that my love for the team doesn't have to be rational. I would had no problems with the trade before the draft. As soon as those kids put on a rockets jersey, they become part of the family.

I would say NOT if it means mortgaging the future of the Rockets.

Why can't Morey just say "take this deal or you get nothing when Howard walks at the end of next year"?

I don't see how Orlando has the leverage when they have the most to lose.

The board seems straight down the middle on this one. 34-33 so far

    Yes to a deal
    No to stupid deal

Always always a slight chance it's a rental and maybe a 2/3 season rental.
One dollar better than the next best offer.

Won't get done till after August, when Dmo's eligible. Why would Dual Moray rush if Dwight isn't playing. How aaaaaawwwkward would it be to start the season with Dwight in street clothes on the Majic bench.

If the kids look sharp in preseason we have less pressure to even do it. No Dmo or Lamb. It takes them to inspire Dwight I think.

What about Bynum? If we can do a 3-way for him, what should we give up? Martin, White, raptor pick, Dallas pick, and fillers?

Fair enough. I am in the camp that believes Morey makes it happen, not offering one iota more than it takes to trade for Howard. He has been unbound by Les. He is a terror in Houston's FO. The league will hate us for a decade.

The young guys are definitely impressing and are gonna be much more fun to watch for the years to come rather than the baby-like personality that is Dwight Howard. The guy is probably not gonna be as effective this next season and we should avoid him completely and enjoy the growth of Lamb, D-Mo and White.

Totally agreed. Part of the joy of having your team win is the personal aspect of it. Sure, we don't really know the players, but we definitely grow attached to certain ones and root for them to succeed. When Morey's done playing fantasy basketball and assembles a roster of winning talent, I'll still be watching and rooting, but it's not the same being represented by mercenaries. I don't blame the players or GMs for this--it's just part of the business now I guess.

Perhaps I'm too sentimental... and that's why I'm not a GM!

I'm shocked by how many people are naive enough to think Dwight would stay here...

    It's shocking, really

Its pointless to debate about it. Whatever you guys think of the rooks, Morey obviously wants Howard and will stop at nothing to get him. You can't sit here and tell me Lin-Howard is not a HUGELY marketable team.
