I've got no problem with the show. It is interesting to watch, and I have no sympathy for a guy who believes he's chatting up a 13 year old to meet up. Additionally, if the fact that there is so much focus on this and so many 'stings' going on maybe prevents even one of these events from happening I'd say it's a good thing. I find the range of idiots (ages, professions, etc.) who get involved in this to be incredible.
There are two legitimate arguments IMHO: 1) NBC has turned this into entertainment disguised as public safety. If the show didn't get ratings, would NBC carry it? I doubt it. 2) NBC compensates Perverted Justice...it creates the perception of a conflict of interest. I don't think PJ entraps the pervs. The pervs contact PJ and PJ plays along when the conversation becomes sexual. Have you noticed PJ always says stuff like "wut do u wanna do?" instead of "lets ****"? BTW, I don't think anyone on the show has been arrested for chat only...the pervs have taken a positive act either showing up or calling...the DA didn't show up to the house, but he called the "decoy." And he had no idea he was going to be on Dateline. He took his life when he saw a SWAT team outside his house and he didn't want to face the consequences.
they haven't shown it on the show, no. but the guy who killed himself did so when the authorities came to arrest him after he had been chatting, though he never went to the home to meet up.
He called the house and spoke to the decoy. I am 95% sure. They did a trace and found out he called from his office. To save him the embarassment, they went to arrest him at his house. It wasn't chat only. The guy took a positive step.
I like this one: Guy: I want to go into sports broadcasting. Hansen: You want to be a television journalist? Guy: Yes. Hansen: You ever been on television? Guy: No. Hansen: This is one of those good news bad news scenarios.
This is summarize and goes something like this. (Can't remember word for word) Guy: My excuse to get away was I was going to Atlantic City. Decoy: Oh. (Hanson pops out) Hanson:Who were you telling you were going to Atlantic City to. Guy: My brother at home. Hanson:Oh, so you like to gamble? Guy:Oh yes I love to gamble. Hanson:Well you took a big gamble for coming here Huh! Hanson rocks!
Yes, the girls are all indeed 18 or over, they just pick the ones that look young. I think the show is alright. They're doing a good service - I have no pity for those who are caught or the guy who killed himself. I don't care if its broadcasted. Think about it, Extreme Home Makeover is doing a good service for the sole reason of broadcasting it for entertainment too but no one seems to care. BTW, did that video say Mike James was a "Houston Sports Hero"?
I actually feel sorry for this guy..... <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/3nI9zUkRMw4"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3nI9zUkRMw4" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Yea, me too. If you notice, in the video- the guy says he is "not a religious" viewer of the show, but Hansen twists those words and says he is.
no, he pretty much said he watches it wherever and whenever he can.. "I'm a religious watcher" were the words he used in fact... he should have known it was a fake by the way she reacted when he showed her the pot, the way she backed away from it and said that it smelled good without taking a good whiff... the decoys sem so fake to me, but it fools these guys every time...
You feel sorry for the guy that wanted to get a 14 year old girl high and have sex with her? I guess I feel sorry for all of them because it would suck to be such a twisted individual. I certainly DON'T feel sorry that any of them are getting caught.
