I do think that Hakeem deserves much more credit than Rudy for the championships.....MUCH MORE.

But Rudy does still deserve credit and we might not have won them without him. And he was a reason guys like Drexler, Barkley, SAnderson, Pippen and MoTaylor came to Houston so don't discount that.

BUT on Rudy's defense look at this team for god's sake!!!

Mooch/ Tierre Brown
Cat w bad ankles/ OTorres
Torres/Walt/Langhi
Griffin/TMO
Cato/Willis/Collier

CBA guys: Mooch, Brown

1st Season NBA: Torres, Griffin (19 years old)

Two Guys We Complained about the most last year: Cato/Wizard

2nd Round Draft Picks: Langhi, Mobley, Morris

Old: Willis (39 years old!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Collier??? = Enough Said

C'mon Guys Red Aurbach couldn't lead this team to more victories than we have

THESE GUYS ARE JUST NOT THAT GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lets Face Reality for a second please.....

Francis/Mooch/TBrown
Cat/Otorres
GRice/Wiz/Morris
MoTaylor/KT/Griffin
Cato/Willis/Collier

THAT IS OUR TEAM!!!

Look at Talent of teams with about our same record

Miami
Mourning
Grant
Ellis
Jones
Strickland

MORE TALENT THAN US!!!!!

Memphis
Wright
Swift
Gasol
Battier
Williams

MORE TALENT THAN US!!!!!!

this hurts but chicago:

Chicago
Brad Miller
Oakley/Fizer
Hoiberg
Mercer
I don't even know the PG

But they still sound better than us on Paper.....

I agree with caveman , the problem with rudy is that we would probably play better without coach than right now with rudy .

A good coach can make a good team better, just like good players can make a good coach better. Its possible that without Rudy and the players beleiving in Rudy's system that we wouldn't have won the championship, but without dream who at the time was in the top 3 players even with Jordan, the Rockets don't even make the playoffs. Of all those players that played with Hakeem, who besides Cassell has been a good player? All those guys with the exception of Cassell were pretty much bench players. You can compare Hakeems supporting cast with that of Jordans just rididng his coattails. My problem with Rudy is his failure to adjust the offense to the new rules. How many zones have we played? How horrible did the offense look even with Francis and everyone. Once they announced the new rules, Rudy should have killed the iso's and the pick and rolls and put in an efoort to utilize the zone just like T'Wolves and motion offenses. Thats my problem with him. I still think he's a good coach, but he hasn't adjusted to the game yet.

Who? Hakeem? You are really showing your fandom here. It was Robert Horry that threw that pass to Elie crosscourt while the Suns were pressing. Maybe the most famous shot in the history of the franchise (nod to Sampson v. Lakers) and you can't even remember who threw the pass. Very nice.

By the way, who was it who pushed to draft Robert Horry at #11 when everyone was screaming for Harold Minor (remember him - baby jordan???)? Hmmm, lemme think. Were you at the Compaq...err...the Summit booing the stupid draft move that night along with all the other astute fans?

Oh, and remember the first move Les Alexander made when he bought the team? The "coach" suggested trading a second round pick to Portland for some unknown shooting guard. Who was that? Hmmm. Could that have been Elie?

So the two players involved in the most important shot in the history of the franchise wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for the coach you want to fire.

If you are going to formulate an opinion, that's great. Be as opinionated as you like. But at least get the freakin' facts straight!

Rudy T is a good coach one of the best in the nba. When he coached the USA team he was given the worst "Dream Team" ever assembled. Think back to the stars Shaq and Kobe turned it down. Every other team had the best players from the nba. His team had players that may have bairly been allstars. So the other teams have gotten better and our team became worse. Larry Brown, who knows alittle about coaching, spouted about learning more about offense from Rudy than from any one else. He also said he is great coach. Phill Jackson is considerd a great coach and he won with only Jordan AND Pippen and O'neal AND Kobe. Plus, Rudy didn't run from the challenge of rebuilding a team like other so called great coaches do. Dream is also responsible for the wins.
Together they won!
Proof that a championship was one by the player or coach can be seen only if that player wins with the coach and with another and the coach does it with a great player and without any great players.

I, for one, will admit that I was indeed screaming over the Horry pick (at least I'm honest). Of course that doesn't make Rudy a great coach, although maybe he should be co-GM with CD.
