    The case for cut-outs:

Duncan has a very blank look on his face, like he's not even there. That's not consistent with his demeanor. Nor is his ignoring the guy flicking off the camera.

The players do not have visible shadows other than in the foot area, which appears to be related to the other three guys standing in front (who do have visible shadows).

Take a look around each of the players' heads. There are visible pixelizations there that are not present in the other's visages. This gives the impression that they might just be elaborate cut-and-paste jobs.

    The case against cut-outs:

There appears to be some definition to the players as opposed to being just flat. However, that's inconclusive due to the nature of photography.

I can see how people would see it both ways, but upon further examination...they look like cutouts - or even cut-and-pastes.

How do you define T-mac's arm witht the basketball. There are a lot of shadows there.

And take into context of what we have heard rumored for there new jerseys. We have always heard that they will have.........

"Orlando" across the chest in block letters...................Check

3/4 length on the shoulders to slove players complaints.......Check

    Same color scheme......................Check

Its consistent with all of the rumors we have heard these jerseys were supposed to have. But what does it to me is all the official league badging that is on the jersey. The Reebok sizing, the NBA logo on the right shoulder etc..................

From what I have heard, the photo is an extra litterally filled with extras. It was after an Addidas photo shoot for all three players. The shoot apparently took place at All-Star time. Afterwards, the photo was circulated by a photorgrapher to a Boarding forum where it has been for a while. No one apparently noticed the new jersey until everyone found out Orlando was getting new threads.

Whoa, back up a sec - none of what you claim has been rumored in any reputable source. Therefore, it's far too early to speculate.

I find it hard to believe there'd be a Reebok uni on McGrady after an Adidas photo shoot, considering they have their own, very similar (to those in the pic) McGrady jersies for him. Plus, what would garnett and Duncan be doing at an Adidas shoot - neither are Adidas spokemen...Duncan is with Nike and Garnett with what, and1?

And I also find it very hard to believe that no one would've noticed the jersey for that long. Plus, it's only a recent development...so why would they be around all the way back at the All-Star break?

Re: shadows near McGrady's arm - they appear to be a result of the guy to his left. It's awful hard for a player as thin as McGrady to produce that kind of shadow, especially considering the lighting angle!

I'm sorry, but it makes little sense.

Thats the old uniform, it will be retired in favor of a new design in a couple of weeks as mentioned in the article I posted. If it were the jersey that he was going to wear, wouldn't Howard's number and name be on that sucker instead of "03?" Use deductive reasoning people, there not going to unveil new uniforms this way. Not for signing Howard. It will be at a fashion show planned for later in the summer around early August. Trust me. I have been correct all the time in the past. Told you hat to expect for the Rockets new logo and got blasted because I couldnt post a pic, ONLY for people to find out I WAS EXACTLY CORRECT. I also told you of Cleveland's changes in Feburary or March before it was unveiled in April 16, and even where to find it. (NBA Street vol. 2) Told you of Denver's changes too. Even uni's changes in the NFL (Detroit, Atlanta) and Super Bowl logo. Gimme some credit at least. Dont worry though, in a short time you will see the new Orlando threads.

Oh and BTW, All three basketball players are now members of Adidas. I REPEAT FOR THE LAST FREAKIN TIME............TIM DUNCAN, TRACY MCGRADY AND KEVIN GARNETT ARE ALL WITH ADIDAS. here is an article on Duncan's signing recently. Soon after there line of apparal is designed, look for photos of the three like the on above to circulate. The photo I pasted was an extra from that ADIDAS SHOOT.

    adidas signs Superstar Tim Duncan

Amsterdam/Atlanta, February 7th, 2003 -- adidas announced today that they have signed a multi-year partnership with Tim Duncan, the reigning NBA Most Valuable Player. A superstar both on and off the court, Tim will join the adidas family as of the 2003 NBA All-Star Weekend. Duncan's attorney Lon Babby of Williams & Connolly of Washington D.C., and Erich Stamminger, Member of the Executive Board of adidas-Salomon AG, in charge of Global Marketing, jointly announced the deal today.

The number one pick in the 1997 NBA draft by the San Antonio Spurs, Tim was rookie of the year in 1998, an NBA champion in 1999, all-NBA first team every year (only the seventh player in NBA history to accomplish that feat), all-defensive first team the last four years and a six-time NBA All-Star. A graduate of Wake Forest University, Duncan finished second in NCAA history with 481 blocked shots and third all-time in the Atlantic Coast Conference with 1,570 rebounds. He also won the Naismith and Wooden Awards and was the consensus national college basketball player of the year his senior year.

"I am proud to be an ambassador for adidas and to help play a role in the continued success of the company," said Duncan. "With our shared commitment to excellence both on the court and in the community, I am confident that this partnership will enable me to succeed on and off the court. I am very excited to be a part of the adidas family."

"Tim is delighted that adidas recognizes his tremendous value to the brand," said Babby. "Tim has already made a great mark on the NBA landscape. His goal is to work with adidas to help them continue to make its mark in basketball as well as maximize its goals for the brand. Tim is particularly excited about the very significant commitment that adidas has made to support the charitable work of his Foundation."

A force at both ends of the court, Tim was voted by the fans to start the 2003 All-Star Game, his fifth All-Star Game appearance. Entering this season, Tim has averaged 22.8 points per game (ppg) (5th among active players), 12.2 rebounds per game (rpg) (leader among active players), 3.1 assists per game (apg) and 2.4 blocked shots per game (bspg) (7th among active players). So far this season, Tim has topped his career average in each of the four categories, with 23.3 ppg (6th), 12.9 rpg (2nd), 3.9 apg and 3.0 bspg (league leader).

Tim's impact and accomplishments are not limited to his on-court contributions. He was named one of the "Good Guys" in sports by the Sporting News in both 2001 and 2002. Together with his wife Amy, he created the Tim Duncan Foundation in November 2001, which funds non-profit organizations in the areas of education, health awareness and research, youth sports and recreation. He has raised already more than $350,000 over the last two years to help fight breast and prostate cancer. A native of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Tim graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in psychology in 1997.

"We are very excited about this partnership," stated Stamminger. "Tim will play a key role in our mission to be the leading sports brand in the world. His on-court performance is indisputable, and his off-court commitment is renowned throughout the sporting world. Tim not only understands the importance of being a role model, he embraces the idea. Therefore, Tim Duncan is a perfect ambassador for our brand - he is an adidas superstar."

adidas is a global designer, developer and marketer of athletic footwear, apparel and accessories with the mission to be the leading sports brand in the world. adidas America is a subsidiary of adidas-Salomon AG, a corporation that also includes sports brands, Salomon, TaylorMade, Bonfire and Mavic

And below is a pic of KG's rumored 360 shoe for Adidas. Its scheduled for release in spring 2004

Well, Howard's name is on the back of that sucker, so I suggest you take a closer look.

And considering his number, 5, is already worn by Jeryl Sasser on the Magic, it makes sense that his #5 wouldn't be on the jersey.

They'll get new jersies, but I highly doubt it's gonna be the one in the pic you posted. There's plenty of shady material in it for me to maintain that line of thinking. I guess we'll just have to see in a few weeks, now won't we?

I honestly can't tell for sure either way. If they are cutouts, they did a nice job of cleaning them up and putting shadowing in. That jersey also looks vaguely familiar, like I have seen it for sale somewhere before, but maybe it's just because it's pretty generic and I could have easily mistaken it for a different team.

One thing I noticed was that Garnett is folding his arms. If this were a cutout that was made as a commercial product to be publically sold, I highly doubt that they would have him covering up his number. On the other hand, whoever did the photo shoot could have had them specially printed up, or they could also just have been digitally inserted.

I would lean towards saying that they are a fake because I would find it hard to believe that Garnett, McGrady, and Duncan (especially Duncan) would give their final approval after seeing this pic. I also agree with mfclark concerning the look on Duncan's face, it doesn't match the 'serious' look that the rest of the guys have, seemingly very out of place. Last of all, I don't think that they would allow their new jersey to be leaked out in an early photo shoot with some skaters, especially not in a photo with one guy flicking off the camera.

Logic and reasoning tell me it's a fake, but props to them for making it look real.

Magic will roll out new retro uniforms, anniversary logo

    By

    Sports Business Journal

The Orlando Magic plans to unveil new uniforms this week as part of a larger rebranding effort, making the club the fourth NBA franchise that will sport a new look for next season.

The Magic on Friday also will introduce a 15th anniversary logo, which will be used in all advertising and marketing efforts in the 2003-04 season.

"We wanted to create a more mature look now that we've been around for the past 15 years," said Chris D'Orso, vice president of marketing for the Magic.

The team is not changing its colors or primary logo, but it is adopting a retro-inspired uniform design: solid white home jerseys and sold blue road jerseys, with block lettering. The team's logo will not be on the front of the new jerseys.

The team in recent years has featured white and blue jerseys with a logo design across the front of each uniform.

"The look is an adjustment to the changing merchandising marketplace," D'Orso said. "What is old is new again."

The new uniforms come after a season of declining attendance at 17,248-seat TD Waterhouse Centre. Average attendance fell 2.5 percent last season to an average of 14,778 per game, 26th out of the NBA's 29 teams.

Magic officials would not release merchandise sales figures but said they expect a jump in sales with the new uniforms. Unlike most NBA teams, the Magic does not plan to have a third jersey as part of the team's uniform.

Orlando joins the Denver Nuggets, Cleveland Cavaliers and Houston Rockets as NBA teams adopting new uniforms for next season. The last time the Magic changed the team's uniform design was in 1998.

The description fits the design below

Keep it man, The "starry" look they had looks a helluva lot better than there new gear. I'm not buyin the whole "retro" thing there tryin to pull. Like the article said above, it appears there just trying to create a "buzz" around town about the team to drive up ticket and merchandise sales. But this is the wrong way to do it. They had great uni's, I really loved them. But if you wanna' make a "buzz' around town and catch the fans attention, sign a marquee free agent or make a big trade to improve the team. Dont pull a stupid move like this.

    :)

Agreed! I am not a fan of this "retro" movement. Like you said, they are doing this just to jazz up ticket sales and merchandise sales. The new uniforms just look boring to me.

Pardon me but I have to rant and take some shots at people now. I feel I atleast deserve this.

What I cant believe is that SO many people believed a NEWBIE over ME, despite my past as being a reliable source of information! They believed his IDIOTIC suggestion that the unifroms would noly "be worn for a couple of games" after I posted an article form the Orlando Sientinel that clearly stated new uniforms for the 2003-04 season. They believed that the photo was of a cardboard cutout. Since when did cutouts have reality dimension and depth perception. People, cardboard cutouts are just OVERSIZED PHOTOS. You can even see the light in the room used for the shoot bouncing off of the players head's. They even went as far as to put up a photo of Juwan Howard on his signing day with the old jersey and 03' for the number. Do you actually expect the Magic to unveil there new uniforms for there off-season's "big splash" in signing Juwan Howard. If you did, I guess you probably expected the Rocks to unveil there new threads for the signing of Pike too!

So honestly, after listening and believeing and falling for what a NEWBIE said, how smart do some of you feel now?
