"It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible." --George Washington

    Now for the OP:

Now matter how "bad" you see this country getting; you should take great joy in knowing your Saviour is in control of the final outcome.

Great quote! It's about time that "Liberal" stopped being used as a pejorative. This was the Democratic Party at it's finest, post-WWII. After the war years, the 1940's and 1950's, with it's "grey conformity" and Red Paranoia, you just have to imagine what an enormous impact Jack Kennedy had on America, if you weren't old enough to experience it. He made the words liberal and progressive something positive to apply to an American politician again, something lost when FDR died. While Truman proved to be a far better President than anyone expected, and a real progressive, the political philosophy did die with FDR as a potent force of the political majority of this country, IMO. JFK, for at least a few years, brought that back.

I hope Barack Obama can produce a fraction of the real political change that Jack Kennedy produced. He's being given every chance in the world to do so. A majority in Congress, a big fundraising advantage, 8 years of a failed President to run against, and an opponent that many in his own party dislike and who is tied at the hip with George W. Bush. I'm looking forward to seeing just what Obama can do. That he might lose is simply unthinkable. If he can't win in November, it would be a failure that rivals 2000, and arguably exceeds that disaster. My own opinion is that he is going to win and win big. It'll be closer than I had thought it would be leading up to the election, due to some stumbles on his part, but when people get into that voting booth, they are going to decide it is time for a change.

    Impeach Bush/Nixon... I mean Cheney.

Exactly. And what makes this quote even more fitting is that many of the issues that JFK talks about, we are facing today.

Health Care reform, Mortgage crisis, NCLB, upcoming/current/"mental"(lol) recession, FISA, and the current foreign policy debacle(s). All issues that we face today and that jfk talks about. It's obvious that the current policies that we are pursuing are ineffective, and what we need is a change in policy. While I'm not naive enough to believe that Obama will be perfect, what I DO know is that he will do a much better job than McCain in solving the problems we face today.

You've got to be kidding me. Truman ****ed this country in ways that make the Bush/Cheney/Kristol triumverate jealous. His insane foreign policy (with Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, and Bush continuing it), is the reason we have stirred up so many hornets nests over the past 60 years. He did more to destroy our country's stature in the world than any President before him, and if Bush is as bad (it'll be a long time before we can tell), the country will never recover. I thank God that Ike followed Truman, because if we had another like him, the United States might be a nuclear wasteland today.

Deckard, You are way too smart to be singing Truman's praises. I know you're a Progressive, but so was Hoover, and he ****ed us six ways from Sunday as well.
