I seriously recommend a D&D regular mod the forum, if only for this forum.

It's not like you can wipe out the Report button for D&D forum.

i wonder how upset you would've been had a poster (whose brother is posting in this very thread) searched you out online, found your profile at match.com, and then started a thread here to mock you?

    They can just ignore it.

I think for this to become an umoderated forum is a good solution. If free and open speech on controversial topics is one of the reasons for this forum then it should be up to us to police ourselves.

There is no way to police yourself, as there is no ability to get rid of posters, or posts that are highly offensive.

If there was some set up where you could vote OUT a post etc.....and it would simply dissappear, or if someone got a certain number of votes against them that they get a time out, that would work.

But as long as there are no abilities or consequences, there is no way to fix it.

I understand what Jeff was saying but it is a little disengenious to come in here and say....tone it down, when he has the ability to force the tone down.

You can't, on one hand say, FREE FOR ALL, then complain later about what happened in the free for all.

Well, I guess you can, but it doesn't actually do anything or fix the issue.

However, as I said, this forum generates a lot of clicks, and that is good overall for the revenue for the site......

But I would LOVE either a moderator, or the ability to moderate ourselves...

    Would be an interesting experiment.

^ You can always choose to ignore someone who you find offensive. Just because someone makes an offensive statement doesn't mean you have to respond in kind. Its like saying, "well that guy flung poo so I am going to fling poo back" and then wondering why this place is so full of poo.

Also yes Jeff has the power to boot people out but I think its unfair to put the blame on him for the way the forum is. We are the ones who create the content here and the fault for all the poo flinging is on us not on Jeff.

I am not blaming Jeff at all, it is clearly the people in this forum, myself included, I am saying you can't complain about it after you basically say "Go ahead and do what you want".

People hiding behind a keyboard in anonmity and dealing with passionate subjects are going to type crappy stuff.

Hell, people get pissed off in person talking about some of the same stuff, if you take the gloves off on the internet you can't be surprised that it is worse, it is the internet.....

Again, I think putting a mod in place and some guidelines would be best, but that is just my opinion, and honestly, it would be a lot of work, so to me, this is essentially the troll forum now......

Just somewhere for folks to take a written dump.

PS. The ignore function doesn't work either, IMO, you should be able to have an IGNORE ME function that removes you from people that you have on ignore too....where if I ignored you for instance, you would also not see my posts.....

Trolls will always be trolls and certain lib members here will always take the bait.

There are too many people who take in the MSM concept of "politics as war" (which explains why we elect in those types of bozos in the first place) and fall into their trenches even with the best intents in mind. It may take days, weeks, or months for escalation to boil, but what you get is another Jeff-type intervention.

A good example is the basso-bukkit tit for tat. Are Basso's topics graffiti for neighborhood watch to clean up? Get real. The information's already there on the net. It's just an inside joke between both groups played as drama, and eventually boils over like any other fight among children.

I'm suggesting a laid back mod who actually wants to read this forum so Clutch's Crew doesn't have to venture here and this place doesn't have to reek before they're forced to.

I've always wondered how small one's penis has to be for them to be passionate about something as fickle as politics. Probably microscopic, although I don't actually visualize such things. I mean, there is so much more in life. I think it's best we just shut down this forum and let people grow as people, and maybe create a Ronny subforum where I guide them through the finer things in life such as pleasuring women, good food, looking stylish and yachts.

I would have been very upset about it but that still wouldn't excuse what Sam has done.

That was, in essence, the STYX forum, which really didn't fly. So, it's been tried. By the way, it is obvious from your posting that you do, in fact, spend a lot of time picturing microscopic peni.

Then as an expert I can most definitely say that you, my friend, are an owner of one.

I can tell why you're not in science, Ronny. I mean aside from science being generally incompatible with yacht living.

For this experiment, you have an unpublishable negative result and scathing referee comments for experimental design.

But I did enjoy your post (the first one) and just wanted to mention the STYX forum, given the not quite opportunity.

    What are you gonna do?

Nice GARM boy, didn't want to get mixed up in the D&D. Now you want to have a moderator. Why? Because someone slapped you in the face a little? What do you think this like the NBA Dish where you can shoot 'em from a mile away? No you gotta get up like this and, badda-bing, you blow their brains all over your nice Ivy League suit.

C'mere... You're taking this very personal.

Jeff, this is business and this man is taking it very, very personal.

LOL - I am not taking anything personal, I am saying the only way to FIX it is active moderation.

I don't care one way or the other, well, I prefer moderation but it is Clutch's call, not ours, we are only here to make suggestions.....it is a personal choice to get in the mud and sling, or not.....but to complain about the slinging when you handed the kids the water hose and put them in a field of dirt seems a bit silly, don't you think?

LOL that DD is volunteering himself for moderation. Ha freaking ha.

Nasty comments are not ok unless they are about religion!

But there's a science to everything, even if it's not inside a petri dish. Life is just one big trial and error experiment after the other with controlled variables and calculated risks. A +/- deviation from the mean is what the spiritual community calls... karma and self awareness.

So you may say I'm not a scientist, but I'm not the only one.

I think it would be good for you to lounge back on a recliner, throw your feet in the air, light up a cigar, take off the blinders and imagine life outside the comfort of your snuggie. I mean lab coat. Because it is there and a crime not to notice it.

Justtxyank, I am not volunteering myself, if you would read the thread you would notice that I brought up MadMax or rhester as potential mods.

Come on now, you can hate me in the GARM, but at least be fair when we are talking about fixing something.......lol.
