If the Rockets play the same stagnant game they played last night, then we have little hope of winning w/o Mac.

Yao will step his game up, I don't have any doubt about that. It's up to other guys to hit a freakin' shot for God's sake.

Man, SF3 has got to see some court time. I refuse to believe he's worse than Rafer Alston at this point.

Yao will easily go ~30ppg while Mac is out, but it may not make a difference. A better thread title would have been:

Everybody must step up, not only one player.

a simple intentional FT miss play by Yao showed his ability, courage, determination, and imagination?

Wow. Just Wow. Talk about ridiculous grade school writing. You must be Chinese, my friend. You writing smells like CCTV news or People's Daily's social commentary.

What's lamentable perhpas is that even thus, you failed to give Yao enough credit, for the play showed much more than mere his ability, courage, determination, and imagination, let me tell you that it also showed his unmatched wisdom, his strong will for success, his unflinching spirit, his all-consuming passion, his consummate professionalism, his inspiring leadership, his true greatness and his basketball immortality.

    He's a basket ball god.

It seems you are a chinese! Is Yao your country man?!

I don't think that is a simple intentional FT. If you think so, can you make one to show us?

I see Yao's ability, courage, determination, and imagination from that playmaking, and I believe many other fans also see those. If you couldn't see it, that would be your own problem.

Oh my goodness. Yao made a great basketball play at the end. I don't know where the courage/determination/imagination/passion/etc... come from. ANYONE IN THAT POSITION would be asked to do the same thing by their teammates and coach: miss the free throw, rb, pass out to a 3pt shooter. Yao did that perfectly, but it's just one basketball play. When Yao makes a hook shot that is not a sign from the gods. He's just making another good basketball play.

Haha, you see, that's where you got wrong, professorjay. Truth is You don't have enough perception like abc2007 :p

It takes a true perceptive person to see that in that one play, Yao epitomizes greatness/ability/courage/vision/determination/passion/will/spirit/imagination/leadership and basketball immortality.

If you couldn't see it, that would be your problem! :D

Yes, I am. That's why I am accustomed to statements like:

"Under the great leadership of comrade xxx, the people of xxx showed their ability, strength, wisdom, passion, and devotion to the revolutionary aim." :p

If we give up 34 POINTS IN A HALF like we did in the second half against the Lakers, we will be competitive against anyone.

Yao isn't going to learn any more of the offense since it will immediately change and become the "feed Yao in the post" offense instead.

Haha! But you cannot make that reasoning to everyone here. I do see those things. That is the beauty of bball, and that is why I love bball.

BTW, I am not from China.

Yao is capable of carrying the team. However, he has to step up. When getting the ball in the paint, he should attack the basket, either scoring or getting fouled. He should think and play like a superstar, who dominates the beginning of the game, sets up teammates in middle, and finishes off the other teams at the end.

btw, I enjoyed seeing yao shooting the jump hook lately. If he could get in a little closer, it would even be better.

In addition, like JVG said last night, yao needed to dunk more and break opponent's arm that tries to block him.

Yao will never be able to carry a team until he learns how to dunk everytime time he is 2 feet away from the basket. It exasperates me to see his soft layups which he misses quite often and sometimes blocked. I am a great fan of his and thinks that he has great talent but he just does not have the killer instinct. And don't tell me that dunking on your opponents is considered rude in Chinese. Its all bull****. An excuse by Yao to explain away his reluctance to dunk. He idolizes finesse players like Sabonis and Vlade but he is not as agile. What irks me is that he is too willing to pass when double team comes. He should be more aggressive and attack the double team once in awhile.

In short, NO - Yao will never be able to carry the Rockets without TMac, although I hope I am wrong.
