nash makes o'fat get easy points,ab make yao not touch the ball.any one name a bad start pg like ab in playoff teams?
still with the scola bashing? Even Yao got taken out fo the game early on because of the pace, there was no time to set up, they were jacking up perimter shots, that's a big reason why scola didnt get going. in the second half scola couldnt get going either because Houston decided to focus on Yao, by the time they tried to mix in scola he wasnt in any rythm, which leads to things like airballs.
You see what I did though. I mentioned the upcoming game against the Lakers. Battier has to have a good defensive game against the Lakers. The other guys, so what? Battier and Artest are known as the defensive leaders on this team right? So they gotta bring it every night and show the team whats up. Yeah the whole team was bad but realize it starts with your best players, if Battier shuts down Hill we win this game easily. All those other guys...no one expected Brooks to guard Nash, Yao and shaw was expected to be a wash...but I expect Artest and Battier to shut down their guys, man at least make it look like it's difficult. Hill had a lot of open shots tonight. This falls on Artest and Battier tonight and I don't know about you but I expected it to be a rough night for their wing players instead it looked pretty easy out there. Unless we expect Brooks and Scola to lead the defensive charge.
right, no one should be bashing scola. but, no one should be praising scola as the next big thing either. he's a very good role player that's about it. he's the perfect fit for the rockets because he knows how to play off yao so well. but against teams like the suns where yao doesn't get doubled often, scola has trouble finding his offense because he isn't a good creator for himself. and i think with barnes at pf it produces matchup problems that hurt scola as well.
you're probably right about the new scheme. However, I still think Yao should only inbound when he's by far the closest player to the ball. He should be converving energy whenever possible. especially since he will be playing long minutes. It's much more tiring fighting for a center to be fighting for deep position in the paint than it is for a wing player to go down the court and wait in the corner to shoot an open 3.
sometimes i feel adelman gives too much freedom and not enough discipline to our guards. a lot of times our guards are just a bit too trigger happy. even when the shots are falling, we usually don't get a comfortable lead if the opponent is potent at their offense (such as the suns). we merely exchange baskets. it's not about we have a scoring pg or a pg who runs the team well. sometimes it's not even about how many touches yao gets. it's about decision making. with mcgrady and rafer gone, we really don't have a good decision-making guard on the court all the time. ab can only play one pace and one style, lowry doesn't get a lot minutes lately, and our 2 guards in ron and wafer certainly aren't good decision-makers either. we need someone who can run the offense, score some, and more importantly, control the pace of the game (instead of going 100mph all the time). if there are reasons to worry in the playoffs, this will be a big concern. rolling the dice and trading our starting pg was a dicey move. we all knew that. no look-back now since the dices are already rolled. just cross the fingers and hope our young pg's can learn on the fly with 7 games left. but if we fail this year, morey's decision to make ab the new pg will be the mostly likely cause imo.
I dont expect Aron plays good defense, but the problem is that his offense sucks tonight, Scola disappeared tonight.
You dont just "shut down" this offensive style. I dont get why people dont realize how crazy their offense can be. It's literally unstoppable when they have it going like tonight, they can beat anyone, and they can make event he best defenders look bad. The only way shane, or any defender can truly stick to one of the suns' perimter guys is to stay on him even when Houston is on offense. That would mean shane couldn't try to get open for 3s or cut to the rim. Would you prefer that? While shane is getting open in the corner or going for the offensive board hill is already racing the other way and he's going to get the ball and shoot within seconds. No one can get back on D that fast unless they're not even in their team's offensive set. You want to wipe off shane's points tonight as long as he almost shuts down Hill? And i hope you know he's not going to shut him down to zero points, it's grant hill, he's still have game. Even Kobe isn't going to hold him to zero. I dont get what you guys want them to do against picks. They can't go THROUGH guys. That's a foul of course. They can just go under or over the pick, and whichever they chose they'll be chasing the defender and not in front of them. It's the freaking suns, man, the suns, they score like no other team, this isn't new...
Sometimes I watch this team play, and I think, they are going to get killed in the playoffs. This was one of those games. Sometimes I think Adelman gets out coached. This was one of those games. Coulda, shouda, didn't. Whoa, our guards get just run over. Nash made them look silly. Folks, the Suns team is not the Suns team of old; they are not as good as they looked tonight. This was a dumb loss, period. Very disappointing: I didn't see alot of competitive fire, especially in the first half, and the fourth quarter collapse was strangely familiar. If you can't beat the lottery teams, then.....
i dont think anyone was making him to be a big thing. Scola actually can find his offense in the post just fine, as long as he gets a chance to set up and gets fed, but that's not gonna happen when your teammates shoot 14 thress in one half. The rockets matched the suns' style, shooting a lot of J's and quickly, that's what took Scola out.
i wasn't flaming anyone. was never a big fan of ab, don't think he's our future, but i wasn't flame him. was just saying how i felt. sometimes i think to myslef, man, if i were yao, i'd envy those big men who have a great pg since i've never had one... morey admitted himself that was a dicey move, and i can see why he made the move. part of the reason, i guess, was that he thinks we need more scoring at the 1 since mcgrady was out. it may work out great, or it can backfire on us in the playoffs. we shall see. and missing a healthy mcgrady? nah... just look up my old posts.
There's no point in feeling bad about this loss. Like i stated earlier, the suns would be the favorites to win it all if they played defense most of the year because their offense is nearly unstoppable. The problem is they cant play D that conisistently, but when they do manage to put the effort in, they win pretty much everytime, that's what is scary about them, but it's their downfall as well. We just happened to face them on a night they decided to actually try playing some D, it wasnt great, but as much as they score they dont need great D, just an honest effort.
that might be it. and plays like that take yao out a lot of possessions. i think it's fair to say if our 3's weren't falling, it'd have been a different game.
Well the only guy that is ungaurdable in this league is Kobe Bryant. Thier offense is good but saying it's too good to play defense against sounds like a cop out to me. Then you play their style which is what they want you to do. Yep, I do want to wipe out Shane's offensive game if he can contain Hill...Hill had 23 points and together with Richardson they had 41. That is not Rockets ball, we've seen our boys contain the best and frustrate the likes of Wade and Lebron and Pierce. Hill and Richardson had too many EASY shots. That's the point. If they were making contested shots fine...but they getting open looks that's not acceptable. I don't care if it's the Suns. You want us to be a elite defensive team? Then we stop anyone that comes at us. You're saying it's too much for Battier/Artest to get Richardson/Hill to take difficult shots? That's all I ask of them tonight. Their not the best wings in the NBA. A lot if every team looks at Battier and Artest and look at fans board. The first thing they mention they have a problem with is scoring on these two guys. IF THESE TWO GUYS play like tonight every night our defense will suck every night. Otherwise guys are wearing Yao down attacking the lane, plus you have to factor that our starting PG plays no defense. Battier Aretst, our team defense Starts and Ends there. It's not a coincidence our defense picked up as a team once these two were both back and healthy. Just because the Suns are good on offense doesn't mean we should make excuses. Saying they are too good to play defense on. Did the Celts say that last year against the Lakers? We might as well just give up on the season because defense has been our team mentality.
The Suns problem is exactly that. You can't decide when you want to play defense. Suns can win these last 7 games but they've never have that defensively mentality. What i'm saying about the Rockets is they didn't play good defense tonight because Artest and Battier were abused out there tonight. If these guys don't play good defense then no one on the team will. Yao can try but so many guys are coming at him getting him to contest shots. I'm sure the Rockets will play better defense Friday because it's what we do. But our defense has to be amazing to beat the Lakers, 20x better than the effort tonight.
yeah, both yao and scola were taken out of the game by that in the first half, int he 3rd the rockets made sure they went to yao and indirectly still kept scola out of it, by the time they tried to go to scola in the 4th Scola wasnt in any kind of rythm
Aaron worries me. I feel like when hes going up against a good pg he gets really intimidated. And that is scary with playoff time coming up. For the past two weeks ive been wanting to see Lowry out on the court instead of Brooks which is just strange. He just makes me so nervous, he made some really bad turnovers tonight and if hes not scoring hes hurting. But, Lowry was pretty bad tonight too. And Rick Adelman.. Why does he wait so long to stop the bleeding? When Phoenix goes up by 6 and have all the momentum take a timeout man. He waits til theyre up by 10. He does it every game, I just feel like hes a step behind with the timeouts and substitutions almost every night. And he needs to play Wafer more. Tonight we went longer than 5:00 without a fg in the FOURTH quarter. He waits and waits and then makes the sub. Wafer 17 points in 18 minutes. Battier killed it. Again. Good to see him hitting his stride, he looks like hes in his prime! Barry... Dear god Brent Barry... I dont want to see him anymore, his minutes need to be cut down. And if Scola isnt gonna show up at all the entire game, and Landry in street clothes theres not too many teams you can beat. Besides Phoenix was fighting. I think we'll get the Lakers on Friday.
