It is the toughest play to defend. Yao helps too much, Shaq has a dunk because no one is going to rotate help. Yao helps too little, Nash gets a wide open jumpshot because AB is not hustling to recover fast enough. So Yao has to make the right decision. AB and Yao have to really be in sync to defend it perfectly.

I would have liked to see the team give the suns a taste of their own medicine and involve Nash on the pick -n -roll with Brooks and make him defend.

Say what you want, Rafer would go towards ball, not looking to run up court even before having ball in his hand.

Our defense was just so bad today. It seemed like the Rockets were playing a April Fools joke like "This is how bad we'd be if we couldn't play defense."

I understand the Suns were hot, but that can never be a good excuse and as for the boards...no one was even trying not even Scola. We are missing Landry.

He comes in and throws his body around and guys see that and can play off of it. Scola doesn't go after rebounds he Thinks he can't get, Landry goes after every one.

We just didn't play with defensive intensity and when the Suns out play you defensively you know you've got some work to do.

And you would want Scola to guard...

I admitted that is mistake by yao , but Brooks also have a responsibility for that turn over . as a pg ,he did not to take the ball and he just run ahead ?????

I didn't say he didn't make mistakes. I'm saying that Yao getting the criticism that some have given and giving our pass to role players is unwarranted. That outlet pass? Absurd. Him resorting to a fallaway jumper that Shaq blocks a bunch load? Absurd.

Yao and Brooks were also terrible guarding the pick and roll. I've never seen Nash look so happy after getting the pick from Shaq. I also don't get how the weakside player, usually Scola, never rotated even the least bit to help out Yao after the pick considering Brooks kept getting smothered on the pick without adjusting anything and Yao was on an island against Shaq and Nash. Overall it was a game that the Rockets should have won, no doubt about it. Hopefully this gives them a kick in the butt.

I don't know, does he make a lot of these mistakes? I can't remember them, especially at the end of games.

Also, to be fair I think Brooks shares the blame for this turnover, as he could have moved towards Yao to receive the pass. They were both lackadaisical about it IMO.

This loss is a result of each and every player share of making mistakes. Barry missing wide open layup, Battier missing wide open layup. Defense is horrendous...Suns getting wide open look all game long.

Team not going to Yao enough. Scola isn't playing well. Team giving up too many 2nd chance shots. Team giving up too many fastbreak pts...i mean the list can go on and on...and yet we still have a chance to win?? Not bad. Imagine if we actually result one of those things, we would have won the game.

Well, yeah you're right, maybe it's cause he had to bang against a big o' Shaq the entire game....but still, Yao can put up a shot even when he's tired..ah i don't even know what i am saying right now, just give him the ball lol

Man, it's games like these where I really start to miss Carl Landry on the court. When Scola is struggling out there, it's always reassuring to know CL can come in and try something else to make things happen.

However in the current state of things, the Rockets are relying heavily on Scola & Yao to take on the bulk of the minutes. I sincerely hope that Landry's making progress and will be able to see some action on the court soon...I imagine the Rockets do, too.

I think those ticky tack touch fouls Scola got affected his aggressiveness, especially on board.

Good passing big men are able to to deliver the ball to a guard going in the other direction. That's always preferable, especially when you're desperate to get some easy points on the other end. I don't remember Yao ever being a good outlet passer. He doesn't see the floor well enough.

That said, that turnover is the shared responsibility of Yao and Aaron.

No need to sugar coat it. A loss is a loss. In the western conference, every loss stings. I'm worried about this team in the playoffs if landry isnt able to go.

Scola didn't play a good game today, not blaming it on him, but this is the time we really needed Landry. He could come in and take some mid-range shots, dunk, etc.. chuck hayes cant provide a jumper, or anything that has to do with offense

Well actually I remember Yao has some nice outlet pass to .. wait for this...Steve Francis. It's not he can't deliver a pass, he can't, just that sometimes he doesn't see the defender, or panicky.

I wish our PGs had have the floor general skills of Steve Nash. Nash isn't much of a defender, but he runs fast breaks, drives and dishes, hits his shots, dribbles around the court always under control. He also has the patience and vision to wait for and see an open teammate.

    17 Assists, 1TO tonight....and 9-15 FGs with 2-2 Threes.

our defense in the first half was non-existent; that, and the dry spell of almost 6 minutes without a single point did us in.

i may have rewind my tapes, but what happened to scola? a poor game offensively for him.

a heavy doze of reality for us, i guess. and our pg is still the weakest link.

It's not that Yao got tired due to Shaq. Yao got tired trying to play with Shaq.

If you saw the game, he wasn't his usual self today. He inbounded the ball the whole time he was in, first of all. Second, he tried to do too much for a man his size.

He even tried to go steal the ball from Nash a couple of times when Shaq inbounded the ball. Like, WTF??

True, but even after that run, the Rockets clawed back and seemed to have had the chance to take this game. That pass just killed it.

But as I wrote, it shouldn't have gone down to that in the first place.
