Did Tracy McGrady reaaly said this? If yes this causes problems between Yao Ming and T-Mac.

well it is kind of true, if Mutombo had yao's offensive game, he'd be better than yao because on defense he's still a stud...... i think it's a fact that rox play pick and roll D better without yao and i'm a huge fan, but it's the truth because yao's size inhibits his lateral quickness.

i see the offensive stats but what's the stats for shots per game and ft's per game before and after yoa injury? i think they could score more just because they take quicker shots since they dont use time to wait for yao to set up and feed him the ball.

Well, as pointed out in the Chinese article, which is printed/released in Titan Sports but relayed by sina.com, the interview was by ESPN and NOT by Titan sports' Luo Ke. Luo Ke was only translating that Mark Stein's (of ESPN) 5 questions to TMAC into Chinese.

And comparing with the original transcript of TMAC's word from ESPN, the translation of dreamrockets of Luo Ke's translation did not deviate much except for the last part of "clogging the paint".

Here are some stats to add to that!

    12 games:
    DEF: 0.426 FG% on 81.3 possessions - 89.7 points (21.7 FTs)
OFF: 100.0 points on 79.3 possessions (about 22.4 FTs)

    6 games
    DEF: 0.405 FG % on 85.7 possessions - 91.0 points (20.7 FTs)
OFF: 108.2 points on 87.2 possessions (15 FTs)

Counting two FTs as one possession gives the following:

    12 games
DEF: 92.1 possessions and 0.973 points per possession.
OFF: 90.5 possessions and 1.11 points per possession.

    6 games
DEF: 96.1 possessions and 0.948 points per possession.
OFF: 94.7 possessions and 1.14 points per possession.

We are actually only 2.6% better on defense and 2.7% better on offense per possession which isn't very significant. What is significant is the point differential. The reason for the higher point differential in the recent games is that as we run up the possessions, the point differential increases because we score more than we give up each possession(we're also shooting better at the FT line). Also, four of the six teams being poor defensive teams (including the new Mavs) may have contributed to that as well.

I'm pretty sure Yao realizes Deke is one of the best Defensive players in the history of the game. Deke is going out there and getting like 4 blocks in 15 minutes. He is just unbelievable.
