When Tracy is abusing everyone on the practice court, he will get to play. We don't need him playing his way into shape.
I highly doubt Adelman is keeping Tmac out because he's trying to teach him a lesson...he's been a coach too long in this league to think that would help the team in some way.
Actually, the only real way to get into basketball shape is to play in actual games. He can only do so much off the court so whenever he is ready, he's still gonna have to get his NBA endurance back. There is no subsititute for real games. You can only show so much in practice. The "Practice" argument was used against V-Span fans and they would negate those by saying "There aren't enough practices to gauge players. Players don't go all out in practice."
Last year TMac said he was ready too, then he had to go through mid season training camp. He came back and said he was better than ever before only playing 1st half of the back-to-back games. And we know what happen afterward. That's the reason many people tend to believe Adelman, because he has seen TMac practice and determined he is not NBA ready.
I agree with you when you say that they can only get in basketball shape if they play in games. Where I disagree is that, in practice you have to go somewhat all out, you have to prove that you are capable of doing things coach wants you to do. You also need to blend in with the rotation and chemistry. Practice helps develop this, practice also helps improve all other aspects of the game like defense, shooting or attacking the basket. Attending practice does not automatically put you in the lineup, you have to earn it. A week of practice is not enough to put you into the game, 3-4 weeks is necessary to allow the coaching staff to decide where you belong and what you are capable of doing.
Clutch's source says otherwise. As more days go by, I'm mote inclined to believe Adelman does not want to plau McGrady at all , healthy or not.
Yeah, I don't see how people can take McGrady's opinion about his readiness seriously. The dude always talks up his situation...last year he was full of 'I'm ready' but didn't look it and performed poorly only to be hurt again. If he really wants to help the team why doesn't he quit making all these statements, and quit with the antics...he was a big distraction last year and is doing it again this year...when will he learn? I think he truly believes he feels good enough to play in some games...but I highly doubt he is ready for the WHOLE season. Like last year he's probably thinking he'll come back, see how it feels then shut it down a game or 2 to rest up then come back again. He needs to be ready for the long haul which is highly unlikely given his time table for rehab.
True enough, but does anyone actually think that is news to RA? Could it be that Tmac is simply not to that point yet? And in response to some earlier comments in this thread — RA and Morey are acting unprofessional? Have you lost your mind? Remind me again — • Who pronounced himself ready to play last season and then proceeded to stink up the court? • Who was it that surprised the organization by announcing he would undergo surgery last year? • Who again surprised the organization by announcing an early comeback date on his web site? • Who airs their dirty laundry with the media? Get real. Please. If Tmac was ready to help this team win games AND sweeten his trade value in the process, why on earth would the organization hold him back? If he was not ready, why on earth would the organization let him play, hurt the team, and possibly diminish his value on the market wither by injuring himself further or by demonstrating that he just does not have it anymore? Please.
clutch's source claims adelman has ZERO interest in playing mcgrady. i'm assuming ZERO interest means healthy or not. and it also claims it's not going to end well. at this rate, it's not.
I think this is getting personal between RA and Tmac. RA felt offenered when Tmac told the media last season that he was going to have an surgery before letting RA and the organization know. Now RA thinks he has the power not letting Tmac play, because his team has been playing decent basketball, and make others believe Tmac is not ready. By end of the day, RA might not be a great coach like we think he is. I don't think I can support him anymore at this point.
You were serious? Sure. Just another Mcgrady pessimistic view. It's quite repeatitive now. We get it. We get it daily.
I was right behind the Rockets bench at the Thunder game. I yelled out "Free Tracy!" really loud and Adelman noticeably shook his head. Got some vids of Tracy pregame, but all he did was shoot jump shots and have a left handed three point contest with Chuck Hayes. If anyone wants me to post them, let me know.
