that's how i feel, too. i hope most of us talking here don't debate in a personal way. for me i've never really hate the guy, per se. he's a nice guy. it is a shame to see a superior nba talent potentially exit his career like this. can't think of many other cases like this.
The only thing he'll be able to hang his hat on is being a 2 time scoring champion and thats pretty much it. I have always been a big fan of his up until this season. He's 29yrs old and set for life financially which most people will never experience. The rocket team would never win a championship with his current attitude and if true about the surgery its time to move on and start something special with their current team.
no, that's a knee jerk reaction. maybe he didn't know there was really a discussion about Tmac and the Pistons.
If he is having microfracture surgery tomorrow (is it confirmed that is the actual procedure being done?), I hope the Rockets study up on the realities of players returning from that procedure and rehab. Absolutely the one surgery you have to bring guys back slowly with. Even in the successful cases, the returns have been rough. Look at Amare and Webber for good examples. Don't follow in those footsteps and allow a second consecutive season to be hijacked by McGrady's knee. Bring him back slowly, bring him back from the bench for no less than a month. Confirm that he can play hard 3-4 games a week without swelling or setbacks. Don't allow him to start and play 35 mpg if he has to "go easy" on defense and driving to protect his knee. If he has to do that, he's not ready to play. I agree that it's a pity we didn't go for Prince/Billups over the summer. Evan
http://my.nba.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5800021278 Houston Rockets guard Tracy McGrady will undergo season-ending microfracture surgery on his left knee in Chicago on Tuesday, Feb. 24. Rockets Team Physician Tom Clanton will assist Dr. Brian Cole with the procedure. McGrady played in 35 games this season and finishes with averages of 15.6 points, 5.0 assists and 4.4 rebounds. Press conference with Dr. Tom Clanton and Head Trainer Keith Jones scheduled for 3 PM (CST) today
Hopefully he recovers, it will be hard though. Now the team can move on though and know he really isn't coming back. We still got enough talent to make a run. Also hopefully this will put an end to all those ridiculous conspiracy theories but I doubt it.
Wow that is $21/$23 million empty contract for the Rockets. This team is cursed! We need to pray Morey is able to trade the expiring this offseason for a "top player"
No matter which way the doctors try and spin it, with microfractive surgery his career is pretty much over.
IF he is having microfracture surgery, then his career is probably over or at least the career of the T-Mac we all know is over. He could come back as a Point Guard IMO, but not an explosive SG/SF like we are all used to. Also, IF he has microfracture surgery, then many "fans" around here owe him a big apology and a big THANK YOU for gutting it out this year. Tmac is one of my all time favorite players and one of the most athletic players to ever play NBA basketball and regardless of all the knee-jerk reactions, immaturity, and hatred on this BBS, watching him get hung on the rim on a break away dunk was gut wrenching for me and I hope that isn't my final memory of him.
i think we can possibly get a portion of that back next season. it could happen to any player and any team.
No, it's not. That's a huge chunk of cap space for 2010. The team is playing well and should continue to get better. There is no curse!!!
as abc posted above Jason updated his blog with all the details now. the press conference is today at 3pm and looks to be microfracture surgery. His career as a Rocket is over I believe, his NBA career who knows?
I hope the surgery goes well. Fans have moved on from McGrady but if nothing but for the good times he was a part of we should all have him in our thoughts.
Apologize for what? How he told Stephen A Smith before his TEAMMATES and COACHES that he's out for the year? This is Clutchfans.com not Tmacfans.com I don't feel sorry for him. $20 million a year for not playing full seasons and losing the first round of the playoffs. Yao gets paid less, plus he has to play with the scrubs on his national team. Feel Sorry for Real Heroes: Ralph Sampson (led Rockets to NBA Finals in one of the Greatest Games of all time) only to have a career ending injury vs Boston, but he kept playing til he couldn't walk. Calvin Murphy, gave his life to the Rockets, found innocent in trial, then can't get work as a Rockets guy anymore.
No it isn't, Jason Kidd came back in 5 months, John Stockton in 2 months....there are varying degress of the surgery. Tmac's is on a non weight bearing portion, he may come back by the beginning of next year's training camp....if everything goes swimmingly. DD
