They may not keep him out of the paint, but the refs can sure keep him off the line.

Yeah, T-Mac's agressive I love that. I love when he is attacking the rim and hopefully his performance and performance of all the Rockets give us a WIN

Gotta love all this hate for the only guy standing between the Rockets being a playoff team and complete, unwatchable garbage that can't muster 30 wins a year.

It is strange. So far T-Mac has backed up his talk. When he's done well we've won. When he hasn't we've lost. So it really does seem to be on him.

Furthermore he came to play when we've needed him all season long, especially when Yao was out. Last game he had a monster game, and lead the team to a crucial victory. But rather than cheer for our guy, many folks seem more content to b****, moan, whine, and complain about him.

I don't mind criticizing the guy when he pulls a disappearing act. I've been frustrated with him, plenty of times during these playoffs. But becaue he comes in the kind of monster aggressive attitude fans have been clamoring for and says that they can't keep him out of the paint(which is again what we all want from him) why is that cause for bashing the guy?

The responses in this thread have been very puzzling to me.

It's because we want TMac to have the monster aggressive attitude on the court for 48 minutes, not with the reporters. He's taken it hard to the rim for mostly one game so far, and has been content with fading back and bricking the majority of his long range jumpers for the rest.

And that quote he had at the end of the game 5 really bugged me. The decisive game of the series is the one that puts them(or you) out of the playoffs, not the one you just finished playing.

TMac certainly isn't Francis level stupid with his quotes, but still, he needs to stfu and get to playing. Some people have a point with their quotes, but he just comes across as weak. Let your play do the talking for you.

And don't confuse my criticism for wanting him out of town. There's a whopping list of 2 players I would trade TMac for, and even then only because of age and injury concern. I appreciate what he's done this season. I know that as he goes, so does the team go(in large part because there is no one other than the big 2 that can create anything offensively). But that doesn't mean I need cheer and fawn over the words that come out of his mouth.

I guess talking about being unstopable in the paint under certain conditions is more encouraging than talking about retirement though.

Exactly. The guy can talk as much as he wants as long as he gets the job done. He is by far and away THE guy on this team, and if you hate him, you essentially hate that the Rockets are a good team.

It's not like MJ, Kobe, Lebron, etc don't regularly talk this kinda crap about opponents... And nothing he said here is even that bad.

I'm officially convinced that all this crap you talk is just you trying to be a pessimist and/or trying to get other people to be a pessimist. You're just trying to keep hopes as low as possible for as long as possible.

No one can be a Rockets fan for as long as you (seem to) have and hate on literally every single piece of the team as much as you do... You clearly are going to hate non-stop until they get their 16th playoff win. Which is sad, but it's your gimmick, so whatever.

considering that he is touching it almost everytime, and settling for jumpers HALF the time....taking to the hole HALF the time isn't good enough.

And on the crucial possessions where the rockets had a chance to take the lead, he was fouled either out on the perimeter(the tackle) or driving the lane and the call wasnt made, and it resulted in turnovers.

Think it made T-Mac gunshy since you WILL turn the ball over if handchecks and reach-ins arent called and you go in traffic. Jumpshots have a better chance of going in than turnovers....

yes he should drive it in evertime he gets the ball b/c there is no defense out there sending a second man at him at the three point line.

b/c kirilenko isn't hand checking and pushing him all the way down the lane.

b/c the jazz are soft and will simply let him lay it up

b/c he is getting calls every time he takes it to the rim

b/c there is no such thing as fatigue

b/c i mean, players like wade and kobe drive it in ALL THE TIME right?

Why the **** does it seem like T-Mac is always saving himself for something?

It's the ****ing playoffs...stop holding anything back!

Orlando ruined T-Mac. His psyche sucks. He suppressed it in '04-'05, but we didn't have the team back then(hell, we still don't). The back thing has flamed up too many times, he's lost a step, and he's not the same player.

This isn't post-game reactionary type stuff. It's the truth, and I've known it for a while, I just didn't want to admit it. There's no point in not saying it. He's a better passer these days, but it doesn't matter because he can't ****ing drive past Gordon Giricek.

Orlando ruined Tracy Mcgrady like Houston ruined David Carr.
