Its funny how Tinman said 1 thing that I know of regarding this thread and I'm somewhat surprised that he agreed with McGrady. Maybe he was being sarcastic but there aren't pretty much post by him. If he can get over it maybe other people should.

exactly. he simply responded to the questions. he picked the 2 teams to get to the finals EVERYBODY is picking right now.

and the lakers are going to win it all. but i know we're going to give them a hell of a fight.

Then don't accuse me of trying to "manufacture such controversy" simply by responding to someone else's thread and giving my opinion. And where did I say you weren't a fan, chump? Talk about hyperbole!

i think we're going to give them a fight. but facts are facts.

we were SWEPT by them this year. bynum didn't play in 3 of them. the lakers never really had a great game in any of those games.

tmac isn't playing anymore so he's just speaking from a fan's perspective.

and the interviewers NEVER asked anything about the rockets. NEVER. did y'all even listen to the interview?

i guess we all should bash shane for keep saying lebron and kobe are the toughest players to guard and the best players in the league, and never mentioned yao in the same breath as those guys. UHH, I WONDER WHY

He's still a member of the Houston Rockets.

Any player with an ounce of pride and team loyalty would not make a public statement like that when his team is still in the mix, regardless of what he really believes.

I guarantee Ginobili or Garnett would NOT say something like this.

Have you ever criticized McGrady for anything? If he threw a bag of burning **** at your front door, would you find a way to justify it?

Before you point at my moniker, I criticize Brooks all the time so don't use that in your defense. I've stated countless times that Lowry is far and away our best PG.

he is an employee of the Rockets and he should have toed the company line or at least something of the nature of "it will be an amazing series i am not sure who may win but I have full faith in my guys" He is the team captain still whether he is playing or not and needs to act accordingly. But then again when has he cared for the team?

there are plenty of ways he could have answered that question, many players have said their opinions on other teams without necessarily throwing their own team under the bus. Heck the standard response from most of the coaches around the league is "team X is really tough its not going to be easy but if we stick to our game plan anything can happen we just need to be ready and focused"

its just his whole attitude behind everything. I really do hope he is rehabbing hard because a 100% focused and healthy tmac is a complete terror on the court but he really needs to freakin get his head checked out. He has been in the league too long and been around enough team officials/agents to know what to and what not to say. There is no excuse at this point as a veteran of what 10, 11 years?

How many times will he stab is own employer in the back?

i mean seriously if the Jazz paid me 21 million I would go around writing articles all day long on reasons why they would win the championship this year even though they have no shot.

if anyone of us was an nba player i wouldnt ask them to give the money back of course not but you the absolute least you can do is support your team in anyway possible if you cant play on the court. help coach, pay lip service to media saying the right things about your team. thats isnt something a team should ask of the team's captain it is expected.

honestly I do believe McGrady is more worried about the team's success and what it would mean to his own career/legacy. The media backlash would be huge if the Rockets do make it past the first round this year. he wont say this publicly of course but you know its going through his mind. The more the rockets win this post season the worse it will be. If the rockets do upset the Lakers then he is done for.

if you BOTHER to read my posts, you would. i've said we're better without him this year playing hurt. he was beyond terrible for the most part this year when he did play except for a handful of games...

but are you guys that childish to really get crazy over something like this?

LISTEN TO THE INTERVIEW. the interviewer ask: "who's your pick to win it all this year?" they asked him ONE TEAM. bring morey on right now to a radio interview. bring adelman on. hell, bring shane battier on right now and ask him straight up. give me ONE TEAM you think will win this year.

tracy simply answered a question. at no time the interviewers asked anything about the rockets, talked about the rockets, or hinted about the rockets. what do you want the guy to say?

unless he said houston has ZERO chance and dogs the team, then you have a legit beef. but the rockets weren't even brought up in the interview.

If that's true, fair enough, but it seems like he stands alone in defending McGrady on the larger issues where everybody and their mother knows that McGrady stuck his foot in his mouth or didn't dedicate himself to his job.

Did I say anything about giving up his contract?
And I don't exactly get your point... you're just altering what I said to help your argument...

OR fans like you just like to reach for things to criticize McGrady about.

there's nothing to defend or criticize here.

like i said, bring shane battier on in an interview right now and ask him this: "shane, GIVE ME YOUR ONE TEAM TO WIN THE NBA FINALS?, just one"

i'd be shocked if he said it was us.

and I am willing to bet the farm that if they are still in the playoffs the team they will pick will be the Rockets.

if the Rockets have been eliminated then yeah its a different story, even with McGrady but the issue at hand here is that the Rockets are still in the playoffs, with a series lead at the moment, and the team captain is picking another team to win it all.

How? His unprofessionalism reflects his team and his organization. By not making those his highest priorities, he is being selfish...

Similar to Tracy not telling the Rockets about his "surgery", and instead telling Steven A Smith. There is a way to do things, and there are ethics involved.

    Unprofessional and selfish.

Can anybody even fathom Ginobili or Garnett publicly picking the Lakers to win it all while their teams are still in the mix?

Sure, McGrady is a different person with his own way of thinking........ therein lies the problem.

Yeah there's a fair share of those type of fans for Tmac and Yao unfortunately.
At least Tmac_1 doesn't insult posters when he defends which is better than most.
