No, he is stupid because he consistently says stupid things. Maybe stupid is the wrong word, he seems intelligent in conversation, but his actions show otherwise.

I don't know, maybe we should have a poll or some fun with what word would describe Tmac?

    Stupid?
    Cancer?
    Loser?
    Myopic?
    Selfish?
    Ignorant?
    Uncaring?
    Flighty?
    Insecure?
    Uneducated?
    Conceited?
    Enigma?

Hey, that may be it, I think Enigma may fit best.....but he has elements of all the rest.

I just don't understand why people care about this so much.

What Tracy says, or does, has absolutely no bearing on how the Rockets perform.

Same goes for Garnett, Ginobili, and Nelson. Wasn't Garnett on the sideline in Game 1 of their series? And wasn't he on the sideline in Game 2? They lost the first one and won the second one. So, obviously, the fact that Garnett was actually on the sideline had little effect on the outcome of the game.

So why are we so worried about what Tracy said on FRIDAY? It doesn't matter. It's not going to matter. Let's give it a rest and move on with our lives.

I'm one of the late Tmac critics here. During the Yao and Tmac wars, I stayed out of it, until they started throwing Rocket heroes under the bus like Larry Smith, Kenny and Barkley..etc

I don't have a problem of what he said, but it was NOT SMART that he said it publicly. As far as impact, this is really NOT that important.

I think when Tmac said he never played with a Tim Duncan or Shaq, that was more hurtful than this.

For me, all the "woulda, coulda, shoulda," stuff is more annoying.

He is predicting the Lakers to win it all because he didn't go to college, eh? That's an interesting correlation you got there.

If he had played college ball, he would have had even less media exposure/experience than in the NBA, thus would have probably learned even less tact with the media that he learned by going straight to the NBA.

You people are acting like a girlfriend. We'll go to a restaurant and I'll say "man, this is good pasta!" (McGrady) and she'll say "what? You like their's better than mine?!" (you).

No, he says stupid things because he came straight from High School and has been coddled his whole life, and when you surround yourself with sycophants who always say "yes" you have no clue as to the ramifications of how your words effect others.

This is how I view Tmac a big 29 year old kid, who has a good heart, but has no concept of how important the things he says are to his teamates.

He lacks an inner dialogue or a quality control chip that says.....uh...uh...that would not be a smart thing to say.

You know why? Because whenever he says dumb things (quite often) he has all his people around him going....dude...you can say whatever you want.....

It is a vicious cycle.....Tmac needs to grow up....but I doubt it will ever happen...until he is out of the NBA, and no one cares about someone once called TMAC....

And I would be willing to bet that most here defending him are of the younger persuasion as well.

    :D

I agree 100%. The sad thing is, it explains many an NBA player. Many of these guys have no clue what responsibility or accountability are.

I've got to say that IF I were a betting man, Lakers over Cavs in 7 would be my bet.

However, if I'm on the Rocket's payroll for mega millions and some shmo reporter asks me this question, there is no other answer than "I hope it is the Rockets". And if they push my "hope" to a " who do you think will win it all", then you give them "the Rockets have taken the hard path to the ring before and they have the talent to do that again" answer.

    Not lying but loyal responses.

With the Lakers winning it all comment compared to the Played with a Duncan or Shaq type of player are 2 different things. I think the Lakers winning it all is more painful than Duncan and Shaq thing. I'm just saying guys are taking comments said out of hand.

Im sure you don't see or hear Suns or Lakers fans getting at Shaq and Kobe because they said they wouldn't mind playing with eachother again.

I believe McGrady is just the type of person who says whats on his mind and doesn't hold anything in. I mean its not like he is saying I hate the Rockets and for them to trade him. Im sure if he didn't care he wouldn't have been trying to play games while being hurt.

His comment about having never played with anyone great was stupid, I will admit. He basically threw all his team mates (namely Yao) under the bus with that one.

But this comment? I can't get mad at him for it, no matter how hard I try. If you asked a Rockets fan who is going to win the Western Conference, I bet a lot of them will say "the Lakers." Does this mean they aren't a fan of the Rockets? No, not in the least. In contrast, if they had said "the Rockets," a lot of people would laugh at them for not saying "the Lakers."

Tracy was asked a question about who would be winning it all. The best option (from a PR standpoint) is probably to say "I don't know... the Lakers and Cavs look real good, but there are a lot of contending teams like the Rockets, etc." or something of the like. Instead, he just said what was on his mind. To freak out over him saying what's on his mind is ridiculous. These personal crusades have become tiresome on these forums -- objectivity is just thrown out the window.

Heh. One of the most dumbest things someone can do on the Internet is assume things. Maybe you just haven't been using it quite as long as I have and haven't realized this folly quite yet.

Most dumbest? (chuckle)....but I get your drift.

And the reason I am guessing that most are younger, is from the "What were you doing in 1997 thread, most in there were very young".

Dude you just called TMAC a mental midget and a r****d? Are you serious?

I could quote 5 times in this thread you have called TMAC dumb and you have no proof except he speaks his mind.

I am not talking to Tmac now am I?

And I said he was stupid, uneducated and a mental midget......just for the record.

    FIFY.

And his actions make me believe that he is dumb, or at least uneducated as to how his words effect others.....
