Seems like he doesn't want the Rockets to be successful without him. It will only add to the criticisms of being a second round virgin.

If paying fans can retain the faith that their team can win it all, why is it so difficult for a paid player to do the same for his own team?

Saying that he's being honest is really missing the point. Having self-belief is everything in anything you do. Who's to say that the Rockets won't play the games of their lives from here on out?

If you don't believe you can do it, you probably can't. Is that why we failed to get out of the 1st round last season? And the season before that?

If the spirit isn't willing, the flesh will be weak.

Whoever participated in these pointless arguements is not a true Rocket fan.

Jesus Christ we just raped a team by 30 points, and you're all here talking about T-mac??

    Has this become T-mac.com already?

This arguement is ONLY between haters and homers. There isn't a line of rationality in this. It's all about "leave clutchfans" between the two parties.

If/when McGrady leaves next year this forum's activity will probably drop by a large percentage because the only topic these days is T-MAC and not ROCKETS.

Every one has his own opinion, and if he thinks it will be the lakers and cavs in the finals, so be it.. it wont change much unless it happens in reality.. im a laker fan but everytime i think of us playing the rockets i never think less than 6 game.. it will be much longer of a series than people think believe me.. :)

Lakers fan here. Wow, I must say I thought that was the wrong time for a comment like that, it would have behooved of him to decline comment. I know I would be pissed if any injured player on my team said that of an opposite team.

Most athletes never answer the question asked. Usually they just ignore the question and say some generic answer. How hard would it have been for T-Mac to say "I'm not even thinking about that, I just want to see our guys go as far as they can," or something similar. How hard would that have been? Nobody would be mad about that.

Lets worry about Portland first and the Rockets who are actually playing than worry about T-mac or the Lakers.

I've got an even better one for you. Lets worry about Portland and forget about McGrady. Lets forget about a guy who isn't even playing. Everyone has their opinions.

No, I don't. Not AT ALL. It's called being HONEST. If thats how he feels, then respect his honest opinion and get off his back. Jeez, sometimes you Rockets "fans" make me sick.

Guys are taken this quote way out of hand. He gave his opinion and thats that. Their is no crime in that.

Maybe we all should bash Yao Ming. Yesterday while watching Inside the NBA they interviewed Yao and asked him what they think Portland would and should do. Yao Ming said he doesn't know they would or should play him more physically and probably front him. Hmmmm are you going to give Yao Ming heat because he is telling Portland his weakness. No.

Apparently Tmac is not a Rocket fan.....

You don't get it.....do you? If your TEAMATE said that someone else was going to win, how does that look?

It is borderline IDIOTIC !!!! He has proven time and time again to be a moron when speaking publicly....

Tmac is a mental midget.....time for him to follow the Yellow brick road out of Houston.

What fans are you talking about that have this undying faith in the Rox. Go see how many threads here were started about how we have no shot cuz we lost to Dallas. How we couldnt win in Portland. How none of this matters cuz the Lakers or Jazz await us in the second round.

I bet you poll on this board about who will win the West and 90 percent would say the Lakers. I hope the Rox beat Portland and then the Lakers an win the championship, but I would be shocked if they did.

Lets face it no matter what Tmac says he will be bashed here. He could have said he felt the Rox would win, and haters would have said he just said that for PR and that secretly he wants to kill Yao Ming.

Oh come on, that is not even close to the same thing.......

You people defending Tmac for being an idiot are truly reaching.

Was TMac being malicious? NO....he was just being a dumb arse !!!

    Which is typical of him...right?

Asking a fan does not equal asking a TEAMATE !

This board will be better off when Tmac is gone.....that way the focus can be back on the team and not how high someone can jump or how many points someone scored on a team that won 17 games...SHEESH !

Well lets see...If the Lakers win their 1st round and the Rockets win their 1st round, then the Lakers will play the Rockets. Thus, he just implied that his own team won't win.

What an idiot. What kind of state of mind do you have to not believe in your own team? Even if he does think the Lakers will win, the guy is getting paid 20 million, to i dont know, maybe act like he's supporting the Rockets?

I don't see how hard it is to say something along the lines of, "Well, the Lakers are definitely the bigtime favorite but don't sleep on the Rockets." It's not that hard to at least pretend you still care T-Mac.

I am not surprised at all, I am just shocked that people would defend what he is saying.

Clearly many here have never played team sports, or understand the ramifications when you TEAM CAPTAIN picks someone else to win.

What about Jerry Sloan. He said the other day after Utah got killed by the Lakers in the regular season finale that the prospect of playing them in the playoffs was bleak. This is a coach talking about his team and who they would play a few days later in the playoffs.
