Did he pick another team to win it all?

Couldn't that just be Yao trying to focus on a short-term goal?

Did he explicity or implicitly say that we would NOT win in the 2nd round?

By picking the Lakers to win it all, McGrady either assumed we'd lose to the Blazers or the Lakers.

It's not about the picks. Nothing is set in stone.

Last year, who would have thought that Atlanta would take Boston to game 7 when they are down 0-2???

Doesnt mean he can say the Lakers are going to win it all when his team is up 1-0 in the playoffs and most likely playing the Lakers next.

How about a little love for your freaking team? I cant believe people are actually arguing this point.

Tracy just proved the knock on him. He has no heart, doesnt really care.

Somebody should put a Lakers jersey on McGrady in this pic... better yet a Kobe jersey.

if i was to nitpick like YOU, i would have retorted with something like: that's yao's goal??? just to get out of the first round??? what's the point of playing if championships is not in your mind all the time everytime like it does with lebron or kobe. he thinks of the trophy the moment game 1 starts (according to his halftime interview). great players just don't care about getting out of the first round.

now you see how ridiculous that is if a yao hater would have posted that. and i would have defended yao and criticized whoever started that thread. why? b/c THAT'S REACHING.

This is a post I made in another thread, but it fits here...

No one hands a conference title to a team just because of their reputation. See the Showtime Lakers, defending champion version, circa 1985-86. A Houston Rockets team defeated them in 5 games and took Larry Bird's Celtics of that season, arguably the best team to ever lace them up, to 6 games. So hell yes, we have a good chance.

He NEVER said it was THE goal, like you just did in a previous post.

Of course, getting out of the first round is A goal. Winning a ring is THE goal.

    I feel the same way.

I love the Rockets more than any other Team in the world. I also support TMac because of the things he's done that other people can't see.

I can't believe everything will be great once McGrady leaves, maybe for a little but this group of fans turn on their players, regardless of who they are. Soon there will be threads like these on Ron and Brooks.

It's not only McGrady, it's been Francis AND Charles.

If we don't win, clutchfans turns on their players. I'm sorry but it's true.

He said that because at that time he had stacy mclady on the team (which he still is on) and he knew McLady would quit during the season ask ANY player the goal of the season anyone with a pulse would say a RING

now go suck off shemac so more

McGrady, wait until your contract is up. Then you can make all the predictions you want.

Just because his short term goal is to get out of the first round doesnt mean he would pick a RIVAL as his championship pick. Ive never even heard of a player picking a rival team to win the championship.

Maybe Tracy should have repeated that phrase as a mantra. Maybe he wouldnt still be a second round virgin while the Rockets are about to advance without him.

    God eat it Tracy.

If you think that when we get to the second round Yao is just going to lay down and die and tell Kobe he's ready for the rape then you are sorely mistaken. A competitor will go all out even if it isn't enough in the end. If anything Ron has given this team something to play for by being overly aggressive(if not at times questionable on his shot selection) but at least he competes and plays over half a season.

T-mac may have had the skill but he will never have the heart of a champion and that is where he will always fail. He would have to be carried by a team into a Championship for him to ever see one. He is overpaid garbage and I would take Steve Novak over him right now.

Yeah He souldn't have said that. Maybe he is looking for a way out of Houston. Who knows, but I think even teams like Sacramento at the beginning of the season try to tell their fans that they will make the playoffs. I think even the Bulls And Sixers believe they can make it to the Finals. I personally am glad the Roxs will meet the lakers in the second round. The Lakers are beateable especially if you catch them sleeping. Their guard may be down, and the Rockets may be fresher. And if they do win I won't think It was an upset.

Good point, but that is just how Tracy feels.

If I had to pick between the Rockets and Lakers this season, I would sure as hell go with the Lakers.

I will honestly be happy when he moves on, it is better for him, his fans, and most importantly my Rockets.
