Its not about being PU**IES. A team out of the playoff race desperately trying to roar back and then losing the star player is certainly going to have a difficult if not impossible task. This is mere reality. The team they are trying to catch (Lakers) is on fire now and even with TMAC the hill to climb was almost insurmountable. My only hope is the Rockets stay competitive, fight with all they have, and look forward to next year. The current core is very good. Stro, Head, Bogans, Alston, Hayes, Yao, and TMAC should all come back next year with a better supporting cast and really contend. Keep these 7, get rid of the rest, and acquire a better mix of veterans and young atheletic players (a balance of good defensive and offensive skills) and this team should be set for a nice run.
Now Yao will be the sole target of every team. He will draw double/triple team every single touch. Unless our shooters can knock down shots, we have no chance to make playoff.
ScrubCity is born! Ming and the four dwarfs against the world. If the truth be told, besides Ming and TMac this is an untalented team. Without their two stars this group of essentially bench players can beat NOBODY! And they proved it. With just TMac or Ming they can beat about 1/3 of the teams in the League. With both they can beat about 2/3's of the teams in the NBA. Several subtractions and additions to this team will be required for the Rockets to compete in the top 1/3, next year. If Ming takes this bunch to the playoffs, he should be inducted into the HOF at the end of the season!
Well, I do like rooting for underdogs.....Roger Clemens sure looked good yesterday!!!!!!!! HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The news took the wind out of my sails. Our chances are certainly much dimmer without TMac but I don't want to see the Rockets give up. This is when others will count them out but it's no time to quit. Men who are resolved to find a way for themselves will always find opportunities enough; and if they do not find them, they will make them. Samuel Smiles One thing at a time, is my motto - and just play that thing for all it is worth, even if it's only two pair and a jack. Mark Twain People of mediocre ability sometimes achieve outstanding success because they don't know when to quit. George Allen Nothing great will ever be achieved without great men, and men are great only if they are determined to be so. Charles De Gaulle Always listen to the experts. They'll tell you what can't be done and why. Then do it. Robert Heinlein What counts is not necessarily the size of the dog in the fight - it's the size of the fight in the dog. Dwight D. EisenhowerGO ROCKETS!!!!
Please get that man some acupuncture! It solved my chronic ankle problems in a day. I played a pickup football game the very next day in fact. Come on Yao, get Tracy some Chinese voodoo.
The acupunture needle used by Yao is the size of chopstick -- that would be too much for T-Mac to handle.
Sounds to me likea bunch of whimps!! Let's band together and have a more positive outlook. Let us do all that we can to prevent us falling flat on our face! Possibly its time for Spree to join the Rockets and help us get into the playoffs- beggars can't be choosers-Y
That is no way to talk about the team, though true. Like Spreewell who has NOT PLAYED IN A YEAR and looked horrible the last time he did is going to step right in and lead us to the Promisedland. I don't think so. Hyperbole, bravado, or machismo have never won consistently, talent does. They might get you a game, but they won't get you many.
LOL. But seriously, I agree T-Mac should try some non-orthodox methods to heal his back -- most notably, acupuncture -- if the problem is not "structural." I saw some other poster(s) recounted the success stories of the application of acupuncture in different thread(s). Pete Sampras had back problem while playing for his last Wimbledon title in that 2000 fortnight, and he was reportedly seeking acupuncture treatments in London's Chinatown between the matches. It worked well for Pete.
At least some people here think like I do. There is nothing wrong with thinking the season is down the tubes, but to even suggest tanking and throwing away a season...I'm struggling to not make this post rated-R...I mean come ON. You must have ZERO competitive spirit in you. You are the type that gives up when things get a little tough in life too? Thank goodness you don't work for me, thank goodness REAL competitors like Yao, JVG, etc. will never listen to the likes of the "let's tank" b****es. Go back and go put on your Texans cheerleading uni.
yeah, but i think tmac would be better off with a new spine. hell it worked wonders for jordan back in the day.
Yeah, I remember the Pete Sampras deal. He was hurting and struggling so bad against no-names in the early rounds that he thought about quiting the tournament. But in the final rounds, he looked so good that everybody thought he must have been faking the injury and he got a lot of criticism from the other players and the media. Sampras' explanation was that he started getting acupuncture treatment during the middle of the tournament but nobody believed him. Personally, I don't think Sampras was faking it. If he was, he should win an oscar for that.
Now it is time for JVG to give a lot of minutes to Stromile and Boggans. We need these two to be ready for next season.
mcgrady to us is not exactly like nash is to suns. do you know what i mean? mcgrady is a big piece for us, but we still have another big piece, along with other important pieces.
