Apparently it's the same old issue. Somehow I have the feeling that the back problem is gonna plague him towards the end of the career and hopefully he doesn't get the curse of Magic swingmen aka Grant Hill and Penny Hardaway.
Damnit. His back still hurts from carrying Vince Carter in Toronto, and the entire Magic Organization.
to be honest, they should have done this earlier. everyone has known his back just isn't right. it's been causing a lot problems and anyone who has had back problems, like myself, knows the only way to heal it, is to rest and rehab. you can't continue to go out there and play with it and expect it to heal. it's impossible. i know tracy has been tough, pushing through it. but the trainers and doctors should have seen this MONTHS ago, and sitting him out for 2-3 weeks consecetively earlier season would have helped tremendously. him falling on it just made it worse and got it to the point where he's out for even longer. what in the hell is going on with the training staff and doctors......
If only our stupid ass coach hadn't had T-Mac practicing while nursing that injured knee that first week of the season. He never would have fallen on his back during practice and caused the flareups that have plagued him all year long. Reports were that T-Mac was in the best physical condition of his life at the beginning of this season. Here's hoping that Yao continues his progress, that T-Mac gets healthy for next season, and that JVG steps down and we can finally get a decent coach for next year.
So, I guess the only reason to watch the rest of the games now is to see how Yao and the younger players(Swift, Head, etc.) performs in anticipation of the next season. This one's done. I'd like to be optimistic, but even Yao's superstar play of late isn't going to be enough. Look at the Lakers record this year with Kobe like an MVP candidate. Even if Yao plays to Kobe's level, he still can't will us to win 2/3 of our remaining games. Especially with such a brutal schedule coming up. What's really annoying is that we have to suck in the one year the NBA has a crappy, shallow draft pool.
Don't look now, but the current four-game win streak was done without McGrady... at least, without the "13 in 35" McGrady. The season isn't over til the clock is all zeroes in the final quarter of Game 82... and perhaps not even then, depending upon seeding. The team that beat the Pacers is what is needed now. Anyone on the team who has hankering to be "The Man" is going to get their shot. Hope they're up to it.
Does anyone have the game on TiVO? I swear I told my son that McGrady looked like his was having some back pain BEFORE the fall.
Rockets Lose T-Mac up to 5 weeks! http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/3715925.html March 10, 2006, 8:09PM Rockets lose T-Mac for up to five weeks By JONATHAN FEIGEN Copyright 2006 Houston Chronicle Rockets forward Tracy McGrady, in the latest twist of the team's injury-marred season, was ruled out for up to five weeks because of a back injury suffered last weekend against the Portland Trail Blazers, the team announced today. McGrady had missed 24 games this season because of back spasms when he fell while being fouled in the second half Sunday. He missed Tuesday's game at the Minnesota Timberwolves, but played the next night against the Indiana Pacers. He left the game less than two minutes into the second half. McGrady, 26, was examined by back specialist Dr. Robert Watkins in Los Angeles on Friday. Watkins said McGrady's latest injury was because of the fall last week, rather than the back condition that has given him problems since Nov. 4. McGrady will be examined again by Rockets physicians this weekend to determine treatment. A six-time All-Star and twice the NBA scoring champion, McGrady has led the Rockets in scoring this season, averaging 24.4 points. He has also averaged 6.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists. Damn!
I hope and pray that he will get healthy for the next season and also have a good backup to play along with him after the end of this season.
CALM DOWN Guys. Let's at least give this team a chance with out T-Mac. Sure we know how they had been playing without him BUT we have never seen Yao play like he was unstoppable. He now has the opportunity to be THE guy. All of the offense will always go through him. Maybe after a few games they might find a way to win. It's not likely but I'm frekin sick of crappy fans BAILING on their team without giving them a chance. You would think after 2 runs to the NL playoffs ppl in this town would learn .
Its ok Tracy we are all going through the same thing... Damn i would be pissed if i was him... This sounds really crazy but is this back gonna stop McGrady for the rest of his career? Will he never be a superstar again , i hope not
no, it shouldn't stop him. it sounds muscular, which means rest and rehab. pretty simple stuff. can't believe or staff and doctors didn't take care of this earlier. that's who i'm pissed at.
