they desperately need mcgrady. the knicks, after playing well for a while, are struggling mightily right now. they need a big name who can propel them to at least the first round of the playoffs (and tracy might still have that capability in the weak east). and he comes off the books (or possibly resign at a lower price and the knicks still able to sign a big free agent). the knicks will make a trade regardless though.
Hmm. Maybe a three-team trade with NY and WASH? Houston gets Butler and Haywood. NY gets McGrady. Washington gets expirings from NY plus something else to sweeten the deal. (Player, pick or cash.) Anyway, I would love to see McGrady in NY, and play well enough to keep a top 5 pick out of Utah's hands.
