out of all the games to call t-mac out on you picked this one? i've been a huge t-mac critique at times but this was probably his best overall game in two years. i havnt seen him that focused defensively since the 05 playoffs. he put it all out there tonight.
At the half, he had 16 points, 9 assists or so, almost double digit rebounds. I'm going to rewatch the game on tv. The final numbers don't tell the story. He didn't show up in teh 2nd half.
Go post with your friends in the Jazz Forum, your obviously bonding with them well http://jazzfanz.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=29347 Is Tmac Jordan?????????? Are we comparing Tmac with Jordan? Is that what the standards are? Is he suppose to be the greatest player of all time? What a stupid argument.
He took a 3 pointer in the 4th late, he had no legs, it barely made RIM. Why not pass to someone who has fresh legs, like Bobby Jackson, who actually swished the shot that was taken away.
On this point I will agree. Tmac did not take the night off defensively. My point was more focused on the fact that Tmac did not force the issue in the 2nd half. yes, I want my best player to go down shooting or driving or something. Not dribbling face up against AK, then dumping to bobby Jax or scola with the clock running down.
Great. now show me what he had at the half. I think it was 16 points, 9 or 8 assists, similar number of rebounds. I said he didn't bring it in the 2nd half. i'd dig up those numbers myself if i knew where to look
Oh yeah, 23-13-9-3-2 and he's the problem. We get it he isn't MJ or Kobe or Hakeem or even Lebron but still he played hard and produced. As a fan i could care less how stellar he played if we still lose. I assume some people would be happy if he had the same stats but he really turned it on in the 4th. Something that people don't seem to understand is that points in the 4th count just as much as they do in the 1st or 2nd quarters. So you can blame him all you want but this game was just more proof that this team is full of overachieving dleaguers and rookies with great coaching that has them playing at their max abilities every game. I'm not gonna say they're bad players or they suck but they just lack the things that make basketball easy. Most of our rotation consists of players that are 1-dimensional. They all lack on or more of the following: atheleticism, height, speed, length, strength, shooting, overall scoring, etc. Somedays its painful to watch them. Every team knows to force our role players to beat them because they know if Yao or tmac hands them the ball open on the perimeter or even at the rim they will mess it up.
Rileydog he's not a quitter. He just doesn't fight the fatigue ... He allows it to overwhelm him. I think those are two different things.
bjax played to his level aaron brooks played beyond his level Luis Scola had a sub par game. but this is about Tmac not rising to the physical and mental challenge in the 2nd half. It's part of the burden of being the best player. When the game is winnable with 6 mins to go in the 4th quarter, it's time to go down shooting, or making aggressive moves. I saw nothing of the sort from Tmac. that's what this thread is about. I think the folks that disagree with me basically are comfortable with tmac being very good, and posting good stats. I wanted more from my guy. I wanted him to win a game for the rockets. Perhaps we're all in agreement. Tmac is not that guy. When the going got tough, Tmac shrunk.
They scored 16 more points than he did in the 4th quarter. In the 2nd half, what this thread is about, the Rockets scored 43 and he had, maybe, around 7 of those. I don't think he quit, but he got tired going through the same tired process that he has always gone through throughout his career; do everything for 3 quarters and then run out of gas in the 4th. The next time that works will be the first time. I don't understand why that impresses so many people, in a way, that's the most egotistical way to go about winning a big game. But wuteva...
Tmac can't beat a team by himself. I suggest you start getting used to that notion. You named 3 players (jackson, scola, rooks)and don't realize that doesn't stack up to Utah's roster. Tmac needs star support too.
And Hakeem rose to the occasion. Tmac shrunk so far. perhaps more than anyone, I hope i'm wrong. But Tmac has given me little reason to think I am.
