Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson of the Nuggets are heading to the NBA All-Star Game as starters, sources confirmed today. The official announcement is set for 6 MST tonight on TNT.

Anthony's selection is no surprise since he had been a comfortable second in the previous fan voting at West forward. But Iverson surprisingly moved from third to finish second in the voting at guard to overtake Houston's Tracy McGrady.

The Nuggets haven't had an All-Star starter since Alex English in 1989.

The last time Denver had two All-Star starters was 1988, when English and Lafayette Lever both started. That also marked the most recent time the Nuggets had two players in the game.

Starters for the Feb. 17 game in New Orleans officially will be announced tonight on TNT, with the network expected to have an exclusive interview with Anthony. TNT will follow with a doubleheader featuring Miami at San Antonio and New Jersey at Golden State.

That's a shame. He doesn't really deserve to start, given the injuries. Still would have liked to see him start anyway, even though it doesn't mean anything.

it's rigged. u don't give up a 100k lead in one week. i think his talk of not participating made stern do this so there would be no controversy and having to pick a replaceament.

in reality, tmac doesn't deserve. hopefully this will not only give him time to rest, but now he has a chip on his shoulders. he's not an all-star this year. let's see how he responds.

didnt he say himself last year that he didn't want to go to new orleans anyway because it was unsafe. I don't blame him. I jsut graduated from Tulane and the crime in new orleans is insane.

its not rigged. i bet all that talk t-mac did caused a lot of fans to stop voting for him, and i bet t-mac himself voted for A.I. as much as he could. one thing's for sure, t-mac got his wish and wont be going to NO :D
