In my opinion the chemistry problems revealed by this photo are even more frightening than seeing McGrady's lost athleticism. As bad as T-Mac has been, I have been even more disappointed with Artest's behavior and play this season. Dude hogs the ball, jacks up bad shots (1-10 on threes against NY?!) and then calls out teammates to the media. His shooting has been Rafer-esque, except his misses come outside the flow of the offense. Only two things have changed on this team since last year: 1) Artest 2) T-Mac's struggles The combination of the two is killer to the team. I think trading Artest is one way to solve the chemistry issues. In addition, maybe T-mac needs to sit until he can go full speed.
Whatever, he's not the player he once was, but at least he stole the ball, although could've eaisly just made a layup.
he could become another brent barry, who also once had huge hops but is now a great passer and a great 3 point shooter
No, they don't reveal anything new. It doesn't matter whether you're playing for the Spurs or the Clippers. You miss a dunk badly, you will generate some laughter. Furthermore, this team is not serious. They don't take anything seriously. They've been doing this all season. All we ever hear is stories of how they joke around in the locker room. This is part of the problem.
not hating. i've always said i don't gain anything from hating the guy. it's just too funny. after he dunked on (barely) tyrus thomas, after the game he said he had waited for that moment to believe again he could do dunks and stuff. remember? don't know what to believe from what the guy says.
I think people are making too much of it, ....looks like he just got wrong footed and lost his rythmn..... I think he was embarrassed though. DD
A season veteran doesn't do that. Regardless of how you defend him, you simply can not screw up easy shots like that. Nevermind the fact he would do it all over again if she had a second chance.
McGrady's dunk "on" Thomas was the result of perfect timing. He barely got off the ground and just happened to get to the rim before Thomas could meet him there. It also help that Thomas was moving over and was not already in McGrady's path. It wasn't an athletic move at all. It was timing, some luck and the fact that McGrady is so tall/long that he can dunk without needing to jump high. As I mentioned before in another thread, check his feet. They are barely off the ground. He looks like he roller skated on one foot to the basket instead of flying through the air.
I'm not even hating here but he must be the most mentally soft athlete I have seen. It is sad for him, the Rockets, the fans and the NBA because it reveals just how troubled this guy has been and just how far away from his potential he always was. We are talking about someone who is a has-been at 29 due to a very, very basic, minor surgical procedure that most guys come back from in a few months. His knee should feel better and stronger than it did last season. Who the hell is still thinking about a scoped knee 9 months after the procedure? If McGrady was a boxer (he doesn't have it mentally to be one but just play along) he would be the guy who whipped up on a bunch of pretenders in a round or two and declared himself the greatest but then got knocked and immediately retired the first time he had to fight past the third round. I always knew he wasn't the toughest guy on the block physically or mentally but this is insane and sad on multiple levels.
i know. i actually noticed what you described watching it live. (that's why that appreciation thread looked so funny to me.) but it still was a dunk nonetheless. dunking in traffic a few nights ago vs. couldn't do it on a break - what gives?
