I agree and here's why. Last night, Bill & Clyde commented that the declining ft% of the team was the product of tired legs due to the running & hustle required to win games by an undersized team. That's probably why our shooting %, especially from 3pt range, is down. With T-Mac, we have a 6 man rotation for the 1/2/3 spots. That would limit minutes to between 20 & 30 per player & their legs would be fresher. Our shooting % should go up drastically.
You have to remember that Adelman knows all about microfracture surgery. He had to deal with CWeb. After the surgery, Webber would still put up near double doubles but added nothing to wins because he couldn't cover anyone on the court. He also would just stand around in the high post area jacking up midrandge jumpshots. I think this the fear for Adelman. He doesn't want Tmac standing doing nothing other than getting his.
+10 Adelman basically said in the interview that right now Ariza and Shane are playing more minutes than they should have to and Tracy's minutes are going to come from them. I think Shane should be able to focus on defense now, and Ariza and Tracy can basically take turns on the court, at least in the beginning. Aaron Brooks should definitely not lose minutes.
We could play McGrady at the 4 a little if he wasn't such a pathetic offensive rebounder. And sadly, runs the floor worse than our regular starting power forwards. What a weird player.
In his limited PT last night, he looked like he had some spark when making a move to the basket, but generally slow at other times. If he only "asserts himself" when he has the ball, I think that will end up hurting the team dynamics. But, for Adelman to play a 10 man rotation is pretty crazy, but I kind of like it too. As long as all 10 guys are able to put it all out there 100%, we can wear out our opponents with such a deep rotation, and with such different offensive schemes throughout the game. The defense doesn't really get a good chance to adjust.
Last night vs. Denver, McGrady's first game with a full roster, Adelman played a 10-man rotation. The minutes for our the SG/SF rotation were: Ariza 34:30 (Season average- 38:40) Brooks 30:12 (Season average- 34:00) Battier 30:57 (Season average- 31:48) Budinger 13:38 (Season average- 19:23) McGrady 7:35 Just FYI for those interested.
much less ariza (28-30) brooks will depend on whether he scores well or not but 30 sounds about riht. shane will depend on whether there is a superstar score or not so it could vary from 28-32 budinger should always get 20 minutes a game (though he struggled mightily tonight) tracy hopefully can get more minutes from now on. he looked fine on a b2b. start increasing it to 10 next game.
I think Adelman said McGrady's playing around 7 minutes for his first 6 games, so there are four games left. Budinger's reduced minutes this game probably had to do with his playing 40 minutes as a starter the night before. But how is Adelman going to give him 20 without cutting anyone else's playing time? Plus, Brooks will usually play more than 30 as well.
Uh.... he said the opposite. He said Ariza will be more effective on offense with Tmac creating for him. There was nothing there about Ariza creating for Tmac
