Of course players take plays off. They always have, superstar or not.

But when the scope is on your forehead, and an entire franchise, fanbase
    - league, even - is looking directly at you, probing your every move, analyzing each step you take, noting the smallest of details in an effort to assess your current and future worth, don't you think you would have the decency and common sense to give it your all 100% of the time?

Think of it this way. T-Mac is given 8 minutes per game. Some feel he deserves more. But if he can't even go 8 minutes without coasting for a few possessions, how is he going to handle going 30+ minutes. Hell, even 15 minutes?

We don't need anymore liabilities. He can come back full time when he is committed.

hey bcook is a +1

i guess it helped his argument that tmac cost the team the game?

Tmac being criticized for his lack of effort on D...wow we're breaking new ground here.

That's up there with Shane not cutting to the basket and why didn't we keep Rudy Gay.

It's odd, sometimes I feel like I'm the only fan that doesn't care much about effort. I ONLY care about results. If a player is trying really really hard defensively and is ineffective I feel the same way about him as a player who plays lackadaisical D and is just as ineffective.

Unless he's guarding a slower tweener type wing, Tracy has always been a poor defender. But, just like a few other poor defensive players on our team he's worth playing IF he can add something to our offense and make things easier on that end. Sometimes I wish the Rockets would have just told him to stay away from the team. It may take some real court time to come back from this injury and find some way to integrate his playmaking ability to help the team...court time that the Rockets, justifiably, aren't willing to give him.

effort doesn't necessarily give you results; the lack of it will almost certainly guarantee you the lack of results otoh.

every player has to work themself into nba game shape. thats what the preseason is for. wow what doyou know tmac didnt play preseason, this is his preseason and playing 8 min a night may get him a nice transition step it wont help build endurance and stamina.

btw using that same logic, offense is half the game. why arent you starting a threat demanding we bench chuck hayes? sure he plays defense but he isn't very good on offense and well damn it that is half the game! so we should go ahead and bench shane too, hell might as well bench ariza too!

    good thinking carly

If that was truly happening then why are we not talking about how he has done overall in his 5 games as opposed to a play or so in this game?

You sure you want to go there?

Shooting .368 and being a seive on defense is not all that great of a record to review.

Yeah got to keep it real for folks living in alternate realities....where the magic microfracture fairy is going to suddenly make everything all better and Tmac will not only come back and be his old self but better, because he has learned from his mistakes.

Some people need to look up "enabling".........

TMac, needs a boot in the arse, not a pat on the back.

Let me just save all you T-bunnies some time.

Excuses, excuses, excuses.....we love Tmac...more excuses, give him time, excuses, he has grown, excuses, he can lead us, excuses......excuses, excuses.

Right. We need a team full of Ryan Bowen's then. Who cares about results.

He's had 4 games with very good effort on both ends and yet here you haters are bashing him on a play or two.

Surely you aren't comparing Chuck's ability on defense with T-Mac's ability on offense.

If T-Mac's offense were on par with with Hayes' defense, then no one would care about him being lazy on D(within reason of course). I don't even need Orlando T-Mac. Even T-Mac of two seasons ago when he was healthy would do.

So it was simply a 'mistake' when he let Anderson shoot a 3 right in his face while his hands were in his pockets? He mistakenly didn't put a hand up?

no like 7 or 8 assists and 18-20 pts a game, thats what we can get from him

and as for analyzing tmac so far. the man had knee surgery and is coming back to the nba, no the wnba, no your old highschool team, the nba man, cmon you have got to understand that you cant just jump in the water and swim with these guys, they are sharks and they will eat yo ass up! he is treading water but it appears to me that he is going to be okay, you just cant assess a player after 8 min in 5 games. why? because take brooks for example, so often he has gone to the lockerroom at halftime with very little production, then he comes out in the 2nd half and boom he gives you 20, now imagine not playing for 7 months or so and then jumping in and playing only the first quarter, not very easy. i expect adelman to increase his minutes to maybe 16, at least thats what i would do, and continue to assess him. 8 min is just not long enough to see where a player is truly at imo, hell i dont even like to judge teams until about 40 games into a season, its just too long of a season and things can change
