My point was that if he went completely zombie that would be a bad sign indeed. He's still dishing out assists and although he coasts way too often defensively there were a couple of plays tonight where he showed real intensity on the defensive end and chasing down defensive rebounds.

Jump shooters hit cold streaks, that's just a fact of life. McGrady's never really been a slasher, unfortunately. However he's still trying, and I'm pretty confident that given enough time he'll find his shot. If the Rockets can hit the playoffs with him and Yao taking 15-18 shots apiece and scoring around 20 they are going to be very hard to beat.

That said I'd be a lot happier if he moved in from the three point line, got the pass and shot from 15-18 feet out, max. If he could get the bulk of his points on high efficiency shots from that range I think the Rockets could be very formidable.

Also, if he could find his shot before Thursday that would be good too.

Since TMac has recognize that he is in a funk offensively, he will work harder in practice to will himself back to his former playing form. Hopefully he does it soon, the TMac of old is going to be needed in the Hornets game coming soon.

What a positive guy you are. I really like how in an argument all you can do is insult the other poster and tell him to go away. That's probably real successful.

As I mentioned after the Kings game right before the all star break.

We all knew coming back from the injury it would be a process to get Tmac integrated. It wouldn't be overnight. He's almost there: he's playing w/in the system, pushing and running more often, making plays for the team...now he just needs to finish the final step. Drive more often and running more plays off the ball. Tonight he was definitely working on that aspect, he's just got to be patient w/ it.

Anyways, my $.02: For some reason, it is nice to see this comments (even though whether or not he said it, I know he knew it), but McGrady certainly has not "sucked". He hasn't been himself, but if he "sucked", we wouldn't be 13-1 since his return.

It's nice to see him actually exaggerate his shortcomings, though.

You want positives? So do I. I would like for the so-called fans around here to stop incessantly b****ing about the Rockets. Should I engage *that* douchebag in a basketball conversation when he the sum total of his basketball takes begin and end with (insert player here) "...sucks?" I am not interested in basketball discussions that are glorified witch hunts and I am tired of this board (which I've been a contributing member of since 1999) being turned into a crappy ESPN forum.

PS. The Rockets have won 9 in a row.

Lol....."I suck right now....... I suck"
Thats the first time I've heard a professional sports player admit to himself that he "sucks," not to mention even using the word "suck" to describe his/her bad performance.

And sadly, its kinda true-I mean, shooting less than 40% (I think) over the past 5 or so odd games-yeah I would say he's sucking right now in terms of his shooting.
But he's making sound passes and doesn't hog on to the ball as much now when he knows he's slumping and, he's actually stepping up on defense-atleast a steal for the past 5 games or something

Tracy McGrady is a freakishly talented lifelong coaster. He uses his gifts exactly as much as he thinks he needs to, and no more. He gives his all when the game depends on him. And now that the pressure's off him, thanks to "other guys playing so well," he can suck and be philosophical about it.

But you know what? Relaxed McGrady plus "other guys playing so well" is probably more effective in the playoffs than tail-busting McGrady plus Yao plus 3 role players sucking. We saw that combo last year, and even then, McGrady & Co. left no margin for error, which cost them the series.

I feel he may not realize he was not playing good in the past and sometimes, he put the blame on his teammates or the Toyota center :p . He thought he was honest, but actually he was not, at least not to me.

What else I can say, I like this guy. I donot think, by sayiny that, he'd lost his confidence. The moves make him losing confidence will be he doesnot drive to the basket or pass the ball anymore or his face is frozen cold even if after a slam dunk. As long as he is passing the ball, driving to the basket, taking a 3-pointer jumper in the early clock(which I do not really like) and roaring on the court, I'd think he has confidence.

The win streak against weak teams fools too many people, exactly as it did last year when we feasted on the East. McGrady can "relax" and basically afford to suck right now because our team is good enough to win without him right now.

When its playoff time, the opposition's defense makes our role players look more and more like scrubs, and McGrady will once again be forced to bust his tail. Hope he gets better soon (knee problem) because we will need his elite talent in the playoffs.

he hasn't lost his confidence. dude stared down larry hughes and just bust through him for an and-1.

he knows he's struggling. when u suck, u suck.

i didn't like it when he blamed it on the TC and its "depth perception." it's quite refreshing for tmac to blame/criticize himself instead of making excuses, which he has been.

he's not blaming it on his injuries or feeling old or wanting to retire b/c he doesn't have a first step (like he did 2 yrs ago). he simply said he sucked and he has to find a way to get through it.

that's a man talking. i think him not making the all-star team..., has really put his career in perspective. it's like he has to RE-EARN everything all over again for people to consider him a star (though commentators still consider him one).

    i think it's a good thing.

I'm not trying to bash the guy, but I honestly disagree that this signals any kind of change in his attitude. I recall his famous quote "it's on me," and it didn't get him or us anywhere. He still ended up coasting a lot, even after saying that. I don't feel like the guy was ever really dishonest. He means what he says when he says it, he's fired up for a little while, but it doesn't tend to last or get us anywhere.

His shot feeling will be back sooner or later,I never worry about it.
I'm so glad he finally realize that we are a team and give credit to his teammates. :)

    I know that. :)

'That' refers to 'With my offense now, I’m struggling. I’m struggling with my shot. I don’t know what’s going on with me offensively. With Rafer playing so well and other guys playing so well, it’s really a great feeling to have all the pressure on you offensively. I suck right now. I get it going every now and then, but through the course of the game, I suck.' ?

If it was, why what he said was not a change of his attitude?

I know the quote of 'It's on me', and I would not call that is dishonest. No one should. He tried but JVG's system failed. 'Dishonest' I meant is he would not admit he played bad when he did play bad and sometimes he might come up with the likely excuses of 'his teammates...' or 'depth perception in Toyota Center' blah blah...that's all.

come on ppl have some hearts give tMac a break, he obvious think back bout hte sacto game, and considering this game too, he knows hes stuggling. even kobe chokes sometimes during first couple game with pau, ppl do bad sometimes, it happens to everyone, right now tmac needs to get his confidence back, then we can score hell more than we can right now
