Nah. He had a bad game vs. the lakers as well, but it has to be discussed sooner or later. Thats what a disccusion board is for. Cant just be a homer.
sab504 is right, it's a discussion board, for discussing things like fans who suck. Needs to be discussed sooner or later.
Cant win em all, but truth of the matter is mcgrady doesnt have the defensive prowness of a kobe or cp3, whos pretty good at both ends of the floor. What we need to do is ask ourselves this. How can tmac be better at defense and not hurting the team even though hes lost a step.
I don't normally attack posters, no matter how much of a joke they are, but this guy is a known Tmac hater and highly doubtful Rockets fan. In fact, I haven't seen ONE post from him that doesn't bash Tmac nor talk about the Rockets. No idea how he got to Member status but threads like these really piss me off. Just ignore him. Go stick your needles on that Tmac pin-up doll you have at home and leave the intelligent discussion to real rockets fans sab.
Guys ...quit your hating...is T-Mac injured? According to ESPN it says he sat out bc of a knee injury..hope it's not bad. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=280318010
He sat out the Boston game because of knee injury. "a 97-93 loss in Boston on Jan. 2, a game Tracy McGrady sat out with a knee injury" Dont take the GMAT just yet!!
This isnt all directed towards you, namely the latter, but The dude was born with scoliosis and wasnt even supposed to last in the league past 6 years. Jeez, its not enough that he helped carry the team into 1st place in the west, but now we must bash him because they finally lost a game after almost 2 straight freaking months?
There was a time when he was known for his defense, he is definately slower now. He isn't that bad on most wing players but Tony Allen is very atheletic. After the back problems he has been basically a superstar stuck in a role players body. It affects everything, his jumper, his lateral movement, his dribble drives... With that said, the rockets came accross the one team that does everything they do, and they have KG and Paul Pierce.
You are right. I didn't know. http://www.redsox247.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6387 Health & Fitness Sports Magazine February 2008 Working Out With T-Mac start pg 38 In the Gym with Tracy McGrady: Tracy McGrady is on borrowed time. He has been for the past 11 years. "When I first entered the NBA and got tested by doctors and trainers," McGrady says, "they projected I'd play five or six years because of the way my body is structured." The 28 year old McGrady, a seven time all star and two time league scoring champion in his forth season with the Houston Rockets was born with a mild case of scoliosis (curvature of the spine.) His back was also injured following a hard foul he suffered in his fourth season while playing with Orlando. But thanks to his God given talent, and a rigorous off-season and in-season training program crafted by Wayne Hall, his personal trainer for the last 10 years, McGrady has overcome the gloomy predictions and occasional back flare ups to become one of the most recognizable players in the NBA. The off-season training program begins about a month after the season ends, and includes weight training AND BASKETBALL DRILLS. "It's funny how people said I would have back problems and not last six years in the league," McGrady says, "but my body feel great in my 11th year." Hall says the only concession made to McGrady's back situation is the elimination of any "compression" movements from the program. "We don't do any squats. We focus on the core and keeping the lower back and abs strong." Hall tries to keep McGrady on a diet that includes a 60-40 split of protiens to carbs. McGrady is 6' 8", 223 pounds about 9% body fat. The McGrady Off-Season Workout: 4 days on, one day off format WEIGHT TRAINING SCHEDULE Monday: Legs Tuesday: Chest and Triceps Wednsday: Back Thursday: Shoulders and Biceps Friday: Rest BASKETBALL DRILLS "Hard Drill Days," Consists of a variety of about 10 drills that conclude with 10 to 25 made shots. Examples: "L" Drill: Start at half court, dribble in, take shot, dribble to back wall, dribble back to court, take shot. Performed in L-shaped pattern "M" Drill: Similar to "L", but donein M-shaped pattern. Other drills designed to similate in-game situations, such as pull-up jumpers, curls, fades and post up moves. "BOOT CAMP DAY" Comprised of a series of plyometric drills to improve explosiveness. "SPOT SHOOTING DAY" Consists of shooting up to 500 shots from stationary position. So for those of you feeling warm and fuzzy because T-Mac is showing up early and staying late running through shooting drills, so he can keep up with his peers, get over your selves. I'm sure if put to the task, you all could put extra effort into your own dull 9-5 lives. ...and before the rest of you write in with the "dude, if I'd only known the man had, how do you pronounce that scolio thing, I just thought dude was lazy you know?? It wasn't any of your damn business to start!
This game in particular he looked sluggish on defense. We have seen some inspired defense during this streak at times. But tonight... Not so much. He is either showing late season fatigue or only plays strong defense when the crowd is highly involved, the Rockets have the momentum, and things are clicking on offense. McGrady should have guarded Pierce tonight. At his defensive peak that is.
A couple of people in this forum also have scoliosis and sympathize with McGrady's condition: http://www.operationsports.com/forums/pro-basketball/239501-tmac-has-scoliosis.html#post2038163773 I assume most people in here remember McGrady when he was floored at Toyota Center a couple of seasons ago due to his back pain. I assume most people in here also remember how explosive and aggressive McGrady was early in his career. Maybe, it isn't a lack of heart.
The Rockets aren't going to live and die by McGrady's defense. When you plug Yao Ming back in the middle, it won't matter how many people blow by him.
No, from Health & Fitness Sports Magazine. It was just posted on a Red Sox site, likely because the Boston Celtics were about to play the Rockets.
